Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy involves a confidential, professional relationship in which you can think together with someone about your life. You may have felt depressed, anxious or angry for some time, or you may want help to find your way through a short-term problem.
Some people have difficulties they can't easily talk to friends or family about. Some people want to get a better understanding of experiences they have had, to help them move ahead.
As well as thinking and talking about your experiences, psychotherapy can involve attention to body sensations and feelings it is not easy to find words for. You may remember bits of dreams, or you may describe situations using visual images that occur to you. Whatever comes up can turn out to be meaningful, even when it doesn’t seem to make any obvious sense at first.
Practical questions
Sessions are one hour and once (or twice) weekly, at the same time(s) each week. My fee is currently £60 per session. I review my fees each spring and may make a small increase then.
To arrange an initial consultation, please send an email or leave a voice message. I recommend meeting twice to talk and find out whether we could work together, whether psychotherapy may benefit you, or what other options may be open to you.
If we do work together, your session time is kept for you, so I charge for sessions when I am working, even if you do not come for whatever reason.
I take breaks as follows: about the last 3 weeks in August, 1-2 weeks at Christmas and Easter, and a week at 'half-term' in February, May/June and October. I provide the dates well in advance.
Qualifications and experience
I trained between 2003 and 2009 and have an MA in psychotherapy. I have been working with clients in private practice since 2008, and became a full clinical member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy in 2015 (reg. number 07158940).
