Students are encouraged to participate in sustainability efforts on campus or to go on field trips of their choosing during the course of the semester. Consider working with the CCSF Sustainability Subcommittee and/or the CCSF Zero Waste Club or visiting and volunteering in the Native Plant Garden, the EcoCenter at Heron's Head Park, an urban farm, participate in a habitat restoration project (e.g., Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, San Bruno Mountain...), or visit one of the many environmental education centers in the Bay Area (see below for further information and suggestions). The field trips are not required but are highly recommended as they put material covered in class into a real world context. Extra credit will range from 2 to 5 points depending on the amount of time invested and proof of attendance or participation. Please also write and submit a 250 word reflection and include pictures of your experience. A total of 25 extra credit points can be earned over the course of the semester.
