Chosun Center for Data Science in Humanities (조선대 인문데이터과학연구소) Annual Workshop
Since 2023, we have been offering a tutorial series titled "Language Acquisition through the Lens of Data." These sessions focus on analyzing and understanding language acquisition data and have been conducted exclusively online until now. This summer, we are excited to host a hybrid workshop, offering both in-person and online participation options, to foster a more interactive and engaging learning experience.
On June 24th, we will host a statistics workshop using R. This workshop will feature research presentations involving data on child development, providing attendees with insights into some of the latest findings from the Chosun Child Language Lab and its associates. The tutorial will present a detailed statistical analysis of the data used in the research presented, equipping participants with the skills to apply similar techniques in their own studies.
On June 25th, we will have a research workshop on language acquisition. The morning will feature a thematic session on infants' eye-gaze tracking, focusing on Peekbank. This session will include a research talk by the developers of Peekbank database and a tutorial on using Peekbank for tracking and analyzing infants' eye-gaze data. Following this, there will be research presentations on various aspects of child language acquisition, highlighting cutting-edge studies and innovative methodologies.
This hybrid workshop aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and students from diverse backgrounds to share knowledge, collaborate, and advance the field of language acquisition research. We encourage everyone to participate and make the most of this enriching experience.
