Welcome!

I'm Becky Reid, and I will be your instructor in Career Planning, Comprehensive. Have a look at my video to learn a little bit about me. Then, explore the rest of this page and the other pages on this site: About PEDS 110, Grading, and Support (in the navigation menu).

The best way to reach me before the class begins or before you register is to send me an email: rebecca_reid@cuesta.edu

Once you are enrolled and you are able to access the course, you can use the Canvas inbox to contact me (look for the InBox icon in the global navigation bar when you are logged in to Canvas). You are also welcome to drop by my Virtual Support hours on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 pm.  If that doesn't work for you, we can set up a one-on-one Zoom meeting. Make an appointment here.

I'll respond to messages within 24 hours Monday through Friday, or on Monday if you contact me on the weekend. (BTW, my weekend usually begins Friday afternoon.)

Virtual Support

Virtual student support hours (a.k.a. "office hours") will be on Wednesdays, 3:00-4:00.

I will be in my office, in front of my computer with a Zoom window open, ready to answer questions or just chat about anything on your mind.

My Commitment to You

It's stressful it is to be a college student, especially right now. COVID-19 added significant stress to our lives, and many are still recovering from the disruptions of the pandemic. Racial injustices in our country add even more stress to the lives of people of color, immigrants and their families, and members of other minoritized groups. I know that these stressors may affect your ability to process information and manage your learning. Do your best, but remember to be gentle with yourself.

Like you, I'm on a continuing journey of learning and growth. I'm committed to improving my teaching every semester, and I my students are an important source of my growth. As a White, neurotypical, female college professor, I know I'm not able to understand all the experiences of my students.

That said, I want you to know I am committed to creating a positive learning environment where all students feel safe and treated with respect and dignity. I welcome your feedback at any time. Your input empowers me to be a better teacher.
