Relation-Centered Education Network conference, June 15-17, 2023
The Relation-Centered Education Network conference will take place from June 15th to 17th, 2023 at the University of East London's Stratford Campus and online.
The theme of this year’s conference is "Relational systems: Multiple relationships in interaction" and the conference will feature key-note presentations each day from highly regarded international keynote speakers.
The proposal submission is now closed. Register here for f2f conference only. There will be a $100 registration fee for f2f conference participants. Student and school teacher participants may pay any amount. Online participation will be free of charge, but you may donate.

Keynote speakers
June 15th: Amori Yee Mikami
How teachers shape students’ peer relationships and interactions with their classmates
Dr. Amori Mikami is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. She is also a registered clinical psychologist in British Columbia, Canada. Research interests include ways in which a supportive classroom or home environment can help children to make friends, with a special interest in designing and evaluating interventions that train teachers or parents in strategies to assist children with peer problems.
June 16th: Janet Rose
Emotion Coaching: a whole school approach to supporting pupil-teacher relationships and improving student well-being and self-regulation
Dr. Janet Rose Dr Janet Rose is a currently Principal of Norland College. She has a wealth of experience in supporting children and young people and is committed to the promotion of relation-centred approaches. She led the national research project Attachment Aware Schools and Trauma Informed Practice, which comprised a comprehensive programme of support for children and young people affected by early attachment difficulties, trauma and neglect. She is also co-founder of Emotion Coaching UK which trains and researches the use of Emotion Coaching, a relation-centred, practical strategy that supports the development of children’s and young people’s self-regulation. She is currently undertaking a Fellowship programme with the University of Massachusetts on Early Relational Health
June 17th: Robert Pianta
Teacher-student relationships: Theory, measurement, improvement, and policy
Dr. Robert Pianta is the Batten Bicentennial Professor of Early Childhood Education, Professor of Psychology, and founding director of the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning at the University of Virginia. Dr. Pianta‘s work has advanced conceptualization and measurement of teacher-student relationships and documented their contributions to students’ learning and development. He has led research and development on measurement tools and interventions that help teachers interact with students more effectively and that are used widely in the United States and around the world.
