Safety Back-to-School Plan

Welcome to Pebble Hills High School (Socorro ISD)

The conditions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic are continually evolving and decisions are based on the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) or state/locally health officials. Pebble Hills HS will evaluate and adapt recommended changes as different circumstances may change throughout the school year.

We look forward to seeing all students attending classes on our campuses for the 2021-2022 school year. We are focusing our efforts on providing an excellent educational experience for students that support their social, emotional, and academic growth.

Campus Return Plan Overview

Students will attend school in person, five days a week. Classroom teachers will provide in-person learning and will no longer support both to face to face and virtual students simultaneously.

Students will return to campuses for in-person learning to include hand-on activities, small group intervention, station rotations, and teacher one-to-one support.

We will resume athletics, fine arts, and UIL clubs scheduled events.

Face masks /PPE are optional.

Morning Entry Plan- Bus & Parent Drop Off

Students, Faculty, and Staff enter from the front of the main building and our cafeteria entrance each day. Students will be provided breakfast in the cafeteria. Space and seating of students varies on the number of students who report to the cafeteria. PHHS' cafeteria holds approximately 1500 students.

Arrival time: 8:00 AM

Dismissal time: 4:15 PM

Food Services: Breakfast & Lunch

PHHS has a total of 3 lunch periods per day to reduce the number of students in the cafeteria and holds approximately 1500 per lunch period.

Hand sanitizing stations will be readily available for all students and tables are disinfected in-between lunch periods.

Breakfast and lunch systems to include physical distancing when possible and sanitizing protocols

Curriculum & Instruction- What will instruction look like in 2021-2022?

Students will be in person and engaged in learning with:

  • Teacher directed whole group discussions

  • Small group purposeful talk

  • Teacher and small group intervention

  • Collaborative learning groups

  • Hands on inquiry- based instruction

  • Provided manipulatives for concrete learning supports

  • Peer mentorship

  • Rigorous instruction with differentiated options for students and an emphasis on ACCELERATION

  • Each student will have their own device and technology will still be used for instructional support

Daily Social Emotional Learning

  • Campus Counselor support, interventions and lessons

  • Outside Agency Support: Project Vida, Texas Tech, Telehealth

  • Community in Schools (CIS)

  • JC Pohl- Campus Culture- Building our Campus Culture and Mental Illness

Nurse's Office Procedures


  • Campus and SISD Employee Clinic nurses will continue to utilize the ESWIPE system for students and employees, respectively.

-Contact Tracing/ Quarantine will still be in place

-When contact tracing, nurses have access to Texas ImmTrac to inquire if students have received the COVID vaccine

  • Isolation Room will be available

-Encourage vaccination (cannot mandate)

  • PPE will continue to be available to all SISD Nurses

  • Testing for COVID will be available through Goodside Health Student Telehealth & campus BINAX, as needed

Learning Loss Interventions

  • Embedded In-Class Acceleration Lessons

  • Afterschool and Intersession Tutoring

  • Saturday and Summer School

  • Bridge Camps

  • Target Instruction identified through the Professional Learning Communities

Classroom Transitions

Hand sanitizing stations will continue to be available in all hallway areas.

A/B Block schedules have remained in place to reduce student movement.

PE Safety Protocols

  • Face Mask OPTIONAL

  • Frequently touched areas or items disinfected regularly (i.e. sporting equipment, jungle gyms, gaming items).

  • Hand washing and/or hand sanitizing rituals and routines must be in place. All students must wash their hands prior to

returning to the classroom and especially before eating.

Dismissal Plans

Silent Evacuation will be utilized to assist in maintaining the space of students as they exit the building daily

  • Each Floor and hallway will be exited from the inside to outer classroom doors (to avoid overcrowding/gatherings in the hallways)

  • Students will exit from their last assigned classroom of the day





Socorro ISD - Bus Transportation

  • Transportation is provided to students that qualify and live 2 or more miles from our school. Special education students are determined by ARD committee.

  • Buses will be sanitized daily before leaving the bus station

  • To improve air circulation, the front and back windows will be opened

  • Hand Sanitizer will be available

  • Every Friday, the electrostatic sprayer will be used to disinfect the interior of the bus

  • Students should not touch each other or share any items

  • Ridership will remain at typical district capacity. Students will be physically distanced as space permits. If space is limited, two students will be assigned per seat.

  • To support contact tracing, students will be assigned seats, and a seating chart will be maintained by the bus driver.

  • Students are always required to remain seated and keep their hands and arms to themselves.

  • Students should not touch each other or share any items.

  • Face masks are optional while traveling in a district vehicle. Bus drivers will have extra disposable masks to provide students that request one.

  • Safety and health measures may be adjusted due to CDC and Local Health Authority updates.

Parent & Bus Pick Up

Students will wait for their parent or guardian to pick them up in the front of the building. Students who ride the bus will report to the back of the school to locate their scheduled bus.

Campus Recommendations & Safety Measures

  • Water Fountain Plan- Students are only recommended to use water fountains to fill up their water bottles

  • School Dances are allowed

  • Buffet Style Food is allowed and packaged food is no longer required

  • Field Trips are allowed by the campus with signed parent permission slips

  • Parent Volunteer Applications are now allowed to submit their background check at the District Service Center (DSC)

  • Campus visitors will continue to report to the front of the building through the main office

  • Common areas will be disinfected throughout the day
