Peasant Commander is a non-Official Magic the Gathering format, derived from the Peasant format established in 2001 by Robert Baronowski. Its commander flavor has seen many ideas iterations during the years but has never gained momentum because of fragmentation and no Home Base. Idea here is to unify all those concepts and its players so to take the format to the next level by giving a clear set of rules.
Like the original Peasant, Pauper and Commander formats, Peasant Commander is designed to create a fun & competitive format which is financially accessible to a larger number of people. Expectedly, these decks should be more expensive than in PDH but never as much as in regular EDH.
This format sets its ground in Pauper/regular Commander, Peasant and Brawl to some extent. Decks are built with:
Only common cards beside special cards and Commander(s).
8 special cards of uncommon rarity.
Any legendary creature or planeswalker as your Commander. 2 cards can be used if both have Partner.
These rules give an extra power which is missing in the experience of playing PDH, but still keeping things on a budget and fun by not going "ka-boom" every turn.
Discussions on the format are public and available on the Facebook group, feel free to join and, by keeping the discussion constructive and respectful, make the format grow :)
If anybody from PDH or from the original Peasant 60 cards format would like to link to this page for this "variant", feel free to do so (and let us know!)
