Arc 1: Chapter 6

At noon, the sun was dazzling and even a little scorching. Huo Chen subconsciously closed his eyes and his pale skin looked almost transparent in the sun. 

For a person who normally can’t sleep, these four hours of sleep couldn’t change anything, but it was better than nothing. The brain, which was originally faintly painful, was slightly relieved at this moment. 

Huo Chen pressed the bridge of his nose tiredly, and the quiet environment around him made him a little unhappy. 

Gone, the sound disappeared.

After a while, Huo Chen stood up from the sofa and went into the bathroom to wash. He splashed his face with cold water and completely woke up. 

Standing in front of the sink, Huo Chen looked at himself in the mirror with no expression. The bangs on his forehead were wet with water and wisps of hair were sticking to his skin, as if dark cracks were winding out of his body. His lips were abnormally white, and he didn’t even look like a human, instead like a devil who crawled out from the depths of hell into the world of the living. 

Leaving the room, Huo Chen had changed into a black dress shirt, with the top two buttons open at the neckline. The exquisite collarbone against the black cloth looked like a jade carving. 

When he got downstairs, he hadn’t even entered the living room when Huo Chen heard a miserable cry: “Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!! Wuuuuu!! It’s so scary ahhhhhh!!!!” t/n wuu is like the sound of crying

He could immediately tell it was Lin Yuan’s voice. 

Why was he crying so miserably though?

Huo Chen walked into the living room in confusion and saw Lin Yuan curled up on the sofa, covering his eyes with his hands, his whole body trembling while a horror film played on the TV. 

In a gloomy old house, a man was rolling around and crawling for his life, screaming endlessly. Behind him, a ghost in red was chasing him and wanting his life.

It did seem scary, except that this domestic horror movie had a rating of 2.3 because of terrible special effects and makeup. The plot had no logic, and the actors had no acting skills. 

Huo Chen looked at the actor on the screen who was pretending to be panicked, and then looked at Lin Yuan who was really shivering and crying. He couldn't help wiping his face and suspected that his mental condition had worsened again? Maybe that’s why he saw this scene.

This kind of film that a seven year old kid could watch, could actually scare people?

Lin Yuan was scared to death and 521 was also scared to death. One person and one fur ball were trembling ever since the start of the film. Lin Yuan covered his eyes with his hands and peeked through the cracks of his fingers. 521 also covered its nonexistent eyes with its small wings and peeked through its feathers. They looked like a family at a glance.

“Wuuu wuuu wuu!!!” While 521 cried, it moved his small wings away to glance at the movie, and then saw the female ghost had two eyes that were bleeding and her tongue hanging out while she smiled. This scene delivered a million points of damage to 521, it immediately howled: “Ahhhhhh senior, it’s too scary ahhhh!!! Ahhhh ghosts are so scary!! Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!”

Lin Yuan couldn’t hold on anymore. When he heard 521 howling, he was so scared he jumped up from the sofa. His peripheral vision caught a glimpse of Huo Chen standing at the side wearing a subtle expression. Lin Yuan didn’t care and directly crashed into his arms like a small cannonball. He put his arms around Huo Chen’s neck, one hand covering each ear, and his face was buried into his neck while he cried: “Ahhhhh Huo Chen! It’s scary!! That ghost is too scary wuuuuu!!”

Huo Chen looked down at the young man crying in his arms, and then slowly raised his eyes to look at the scary ghost Lin Yuan cried about: “......”

How was it scary? Scary how she just tripped and almost did a front roll?

Huo Chen was about to speak when he saw Lin Yuan raise his head from his neck and sneak a look at the TV screen. As a result, he didn’t last for three seconds until he screamed and began to cry again.

A warm and dense breath sprayed his neck, causing dampness and itching. Huo Chen had never been so close to anyone and he was stunned. He felt that the other party was warm and clear, soft and harmless, like a gentle sun. 

Huo Chen quickly came to his senses and grabbed Lin Yuan’s arm and pulled him away.
