Arc 8: Chapter 18

When Lin Yuan opened his eyes next, it was dark around him.

The air conditioner in the room was on, and he felt continuous gusts of cold air blowing, creating a stark contrast to Jin Ran’s body heat.

Lin Yuan shivered and wanted to turn off the air conditioner. But as soon as he moved, Jin Ran also woke up and tightened his arms reflexively.

Where was Sui Sui going? Did he want to leave?

Out of nowhere, Lin Yuan was pulled back and the man’s lips covered his. The kiss was a little messy and rough in the darkness.

Instead of struggling, Lin Yuan encircled Jin Ran’s neck and responded enthusiastically. The two of them kissed passionately with skin touching skin.

Lin Yuan felt he was losing breath and gently bit Jin Ran’s lip. The other reluctantly stopped and their lips separated, an ambiguous line of saliva still connecting them.

“What’s the matter? Are you hungry? Thirsty?”

Lin Yuan shook his head and whispered: “No, it’s cold. I wanted to turn off the air conditioner.”

Jin Ran’s tense shoulders relaxed: “It’s cold? Got it.” He turned off the air conditioner, and the air was still.

Jin Ran hugged Lin Yuan back in the bed. His slender fingers stroked over Lin Yuan’s body, caressing his scars.

“Your scars… did it hurt?”

Lin Yuan nuzzled Jin Ran’s chest and said coquettishly: “En, it hurt a lot.”

He pretended to be ignorant and asked: “Jin Ran, do you know why I have so many old scars?”

Jin Ran narrowed his eyes. He wasn’t keen on mentioning the past, but there was no reason for him to stop Lin Yuan from finding his own past.

However, he didn’t need to tell the truth.

Jin Ran patted Lin Yuan’s back: “Sui Sui, what matters is the present moment. We’re together again. Regardless of what happened in the past, it all doesn’t affect the present. You said it too, we should start over.”

“I don’t really want to tell you about the past. What’s true is that we’re together, lovers, a family, right?”

When he spoke, his breath brushed against Lin Yuan’s ear. Lin Yuan was a little absent-minded from it and said softly: “Ok, I won’t ask.”

Jin Ran didn’t expect him to be so easy to coax, and let out a silent breath of relief. His warm palm moved down from Lin Yuan’s back down to the other’s tailbone.

“I didn’t control myself this time. You’re a little swollen, you might have to lay in bed for a few days.”

Lin Yuan said a little shyly: “Hmm, then I’ll ask for leave. By the way, I’m working at a milk tea store right now.”

Jin Ran kissed Lin Yuan’s hot cheek: “How about resigning? Stay at home from now on, I’ll raise you.”

Fearful that Lin Yuan would feel disturbed, he lowered his voice and said a little trembling: “Sui Sui, I’m just so scared that you’ll disappear again. You said you wouldn’t abandon me…”

Lin Yuan felt like Jin Ran’s mood was beginning to become wrong, and he quickly cupped Jin Ran’s face and said seriously: “Don’t be afraid. Jin Ran, I promised, I really mean it.”

He kissed Jin Ran’s pursed lips: “Husband, can I call you husband? I won’t go anywhere, I’m your wife now.”

Jin Ran’s gloominess turned into excitement in an instant. He said urgently: “Sui Sui, what did you say?”

Lin Yuan repeated: “Husband~”

Jin Ran chuckled in a low voice, as if he was uncontrollably happy: “Then.. can Sui Sui stay at home with me for some time? We can talk about work later.”

“I want to make you fall in love with me again.”

Lin Yuan agreed. Although he liked his work in the milk tea shop, it was far from being as important as his husband. Lin Yuan smiled and whispered shyly in the other’s ear: “Actually, I think I like you a little bit already. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have done this kind of thing with you. Maybe this was love at first sight.”

Love at first sight.

Jin Ran didn’t believe in such a beautiful phrase before, yet now the person he loved said that they fell in love with him at first sight…

For the first time, Jin Ran felt as if his heart was like a bowl trying to contain his waterfall of love for Lin Yuan.

The story started when Lin Yuan and Jin Ran fell in love at first sight. They spent the rest of years happily in love.

His breathing became slightly heavy, and pleasure almost drowned him. He rubbed Lin Yuan’s soft and fluffy hair, not knowing whether he was smiling or crying: “That makes me happy, really really happy…”

Although Jin Ran said he was happy, Lin Yuan couldn’t help but feel his heart ache with pity hearing Jin Ran’s repressed sadness.

The two of them chatted and occasionally kissed and flirted. When Lin Yuan felt Jin Ran’s hardness, he wanted to help, but Jin Ran didn’t allow him to move.

“I’m okay. I’ll wait until Sui Sui feels better, have a good rest first.”

Jin Ran solved it himself, and then went to the bathroom to clean up. At this point, Lin Yuan was very sleepy. He rubbed his eyes and said softly: “Husband, I’m going to sleep. Good night…”

Jin Ran looked at Lin Yuan’s soft appearance endearingly.

He still couldn’t help but worry that Father Lin would notice something different and figure out that Lin Yuan was still alive. In order to not show abnormality, Jin Ran only asked for a day off saying he had drunk too much at the dinner.

When he went back to work, Jin Ran acted as if he was depressed and gloomy. But after work, Jin Ran went to the cake shop and bought a familiar rabbit cake.

Stepping into home with the cake, the crystal lamp in the living room was shining brightly. Jin Ran habitually glanced at where the rabbit pajamas were usually placed, but the spot was empty. Because the pajamas were dirty.

Jin Ran thought of how the pajamas slipped off of Lin Yuan’s shoulders, letting him feel the touch of Lin Yuan’s skin. It wasn’t his fantasy.

Walking up to the second floor, Jin Ran stopped in front of the bedroom. He held the metal handle, but hesitated to open the door.

His memories told him Lin Yuan was real. His heart wanted Lin Yuan to be real. But…

What if it was all fake?

What if he opened the door, and the room was empty? What if only dirty rabbit pajamas were on the bed without Lin Yuan’s figure?

Jin Ran helplessly felt fear take over his body inch by inch. His body was already empty, with nothing left to fight this fear.

Leaning on the cold wall, Jin Ran squatted down and covered his face. He hid his empty eyes, hiding his fear and panic.

After a long time, Jin Ran went downstairs and placed the rabbit cake in the freezer. Inside the freezer, there was already an identical rabbit cake.

Walking to the bedroom again, Jin Ran gathered some courage this time. He opened the door and saw a young man with amber hair and amber eyes lying on the bed.

Lin Yuan was in the middle of watching a movie. Hearing the door open, he looked up and called with a sweet smile: “Husband! You’re back!”

Jin Ran felt as if his feet had no weight. He seemed to have floated over to Lin Yuan’s side and kissed Lin Yuan’s lips. The kiss was very shallow, letting Jin Ran feel the warmth and softness of Lin Yuan’s body.

“Was it boring to stay at home?” He asked.

Lin Yuan shook his head: “There are so many things to do on my phone. It’s not boring.”

Jin Ran saw he was being honest and smiled softly: “That’s good.”

After Jin Ran changed into home clothes and washed his hands clean, Jin Ran pulled down Lin Yuan’s pajamas. He touched somewhere and commented: “It’s still a little swollen.”

Lin Yuan bit the pillow shyly and stammered: “I… It doesn’t hurt anymore…”

“Really?” Jin Ran pushed his finger inside a little.

Lin Yuan yelped and cried out: “Jin Ran, take out your finger!”

Jin Ran was teasing him. He held Lin Yuan in his arms, kissing and rubbing to comfort him.

Within two days, Lin Yuan was completely fine. Then after another night of tossing, he couldn’t do it again.

In a daze, he heard Jin Ran’s voice: “You are Sui Sui, not Lin Yuan. Lin Yuan is not needed…”
