Arc 4: Chapter 3

Lu Ye fell into a deep silence. He glanced at the giant white wolf with a subtle expression, and then lowered his eyes to the pinyin again.

No mental preparation could have prepared Lu Ye for this kind of scene. Who would’ve imagined that at the end of the world, a wolf with super powers will use pinyin and write out husband.

“......”

Lu Ye felt that he had to clarify things to not misunderstand the wolf. He slender finger pointed to the wolf and asked: “Mr. Wolf, are you talking about yourself?”

Lin Yuan’s light icy blue eyes widened in shock.

He hurriedly shook his head from side to side and desperately wanted to explain: No, no! You are my husband! I am not my husband! You are ah!

Lin Yuan howled anxiously and couldn't help pacing back and forth.

The feeling that this wolf was not aggressive or scary grew stronger in Lu Ye’s mind, instead…… it actually looked quite silly. And acted quite familiar with him for some reason.

He even questioned if this was really a wolf. After all, how could a wolf know pinyin and could even write it?

Lu Ye pondered for a while. Although the emergence of special abilities in humans was quite inconsistent with common sense, but it was well-established knowledge that the strange snow was the source of change.

However, no matter how unscientific the superpower is, it couldn't be compared to meeting a wolf that knew pinyin.

Lu Ye had an illogical guess that after this wolf awakened its superpower, its learning ability increased by leaps and bounds. Then it managed to learn Chinese and pinyin in a week! 

Hmm, this kind of possibility was quite unlikely.

Then there was only one possibility left, which was also quite ridiculous, but this scenario could explain everything.

The wolf was not actually a wolf, but a human. A human who had awakened some power to turn into a wolf.

Moreover, judging from the fact that this wolf seemed to like him and even spelled out such a word in pinyin, this person is probably one of his admirers.

As Lu Ye lowered his eyes in thought, there was an imperceptible indifference in his expression. It was a kind of coldness that seemed to live in his bones, a kind of hostility to the entire world. But the moment he raised his eyes, that indifference dissipated.

He didn’t know if he guessed correctly, but he could test it out. 

There was a faint sense of aversion in Lu Ye's narrow eyes, but it was well hidden. He stretched out his hand, with fingertips trembling slightly, and touched the white wolf's head.

If he guessed incorrectly, then he could get a hand bitten off, or at worst, bitten directly to death.

Since this wolf helped him get his revenge, he was willing to die in the wolf’s mouth.

Lin Yuan's brain was still turning rapidly when he felt Lu Ye’s hand on his head. 

What was Lu Ye doing?

Lin Yuan was silently confused. He didn’t move and obediently stood in place.

Lu Ye saw this strong and fierce looking beast acting extremely well behaved towards him and was more sure of his guess. But he was still not one hundred percent sure.

He tried rubbing Lin Yuan’s head, and Lin Yuan still didn’t move. Even after Lu Ye kneaded Lin Yuan’s ears, he was still very well behaved. 

Such indulgence made Lu Ye lose his sense of proportion and by the time he came to his senses, Lin Yuan had already laid down on his back, harmlessly exposing his soft belly for Lu Ye to rub. He was even softly rumbling, like a cat purring, and seemed to be very comfortable.

Lu Ye looked at the soft and docile arctic wolf in front of him, and quickly took his hands away as if he was burned. His handsome and stern face looked slightly embarrassed, and his eyes trembled slightly.

If…… if this wolf was really a person, then he just…… rubbed this person all over. 

Lin Yuan was feeling very comfortable and enjoyed the rubbing quite a bit. When the hands were suddenly gone, he looked at Lu Ye and howled questioningly: Husband, why’d you stop?

Lu Ye couldn't look into the wolf’s innocent eyes for some reason. He lowered his eyes and said softly: “...I have an apartment near the school. I want to take a rest there, is that okay?”

Lin Yuan immediately got up and shook out his fur. He nodded and woofed: Ok~

Lu Ye led the way and the two met zombies three times in five minutes. But meeting zombies couldn’t be blamed on Lu Ye, there were just too many zombies around. 

Lin Yuan felt a little bad for Lu Ye and used his claws to write in the dirt: di zhi? t/n address?

Lu Ye described the location as best he could and then glanced into the arctic wolf’s clean and clear ice-blue eyes and whispered: "I'm sorry to trouble you."

Lin Yuan shook his head: No trouble~

With Lin Yuan’s nose leading the way, they walked all the way to the door of the apartment without encountering a single zombie.

Lu Ye didn’t often go to this apartment. There was a housekeeper who was paid to clean the place weekly and the last day it was cleaned was the day before the end of the world. So even though it had been over a week, the apartment was still quite clean.

Lin Yuan was barely surviving the stink outside, so when he stepped into the apartment, he finally felt like he could breathe easier. He even caught the scent of Lu Ye around the apartment, but it was a bit faint. 

Lu Ye looked at the familiar apartment and finally felt a sense of security.

Too many things had happened in the past week. The once peaceful campus turned into a hell on earth, with some people turning into vicious monsters that ate humans. 

He was really tired. 

Lu Ye wanted to take a bath, but no water came out of the faucet, which meant that the entire city's operations were completely paralyzed. It had only been a week, yet Ning City had completely fallen.

Lin Yuan followed Lu Ye into the bathroom and watched him turn on the faucet, and wondered if his husband wanted to take a bath? It seemed so. He probably hadn’t managed to take a shower ever since the apocalypse started. 

Walking to the bathtub, Lin Yuan felt the energy in his body, raised his paws, and soon a stream of water appeared out of thin air.

He howled: Husband~

Lu Ye heard his voice and looked over. The scene in front of him stunned him.

He was quite sure that this wolf form was actually just a manifestation of a person’s super power, who also had a space. But now it seemed like this person also had a water power. 

A triple power user?

Lin Yuan used his water power for the first time. After filling one-third of the bathtub, he no longer had any energy. He walked to Lu Ye and tiredly rubbed his head against him.

Tired.

Lu Ye lowered his sight quietly, covering the emotions in his eyes. His pupils were dark and deep, like a bottomless abyss. Occasionally, the sunlight came in but it disappeared in an instant. 

This wolf, this person, liked him, Lu Ye thought.

He was just an ordinary person, and he knew clearly that if he wanted to survive longer in the apocalypse, his best chance was getting the support of a powerful backer. 

Being a golden canary, a little lover?

No, this person liked him and even called him husband. So at most this wolf was……a boyfriend?

Lu Ye remembered that when he was rubbing the wolf’s belly, he indeed saw… what males have. 

Lu Ye squatted down and rubbed Lin Yuan for a while, then got up and went to the study room and took out paper and pen.

He wrote some characters and placed the paper in front of Lin Yuan. He sat directly on the ground, looked at Lin Yuan, and said, "Mr. Wolf, let's talk."

Lin Yuan looked at the letters with bright eyes. His husband was so smart, even coming up with a way for them to communicate. 

He used his sharp claws to point to two characters. 

Lu Ye said tentatively: “Lín, Yuán?”

Lin Yuan shook his head. 

Lu Ye also wrote down the four tones on the piece of paper. 

Lin Yuan once again pointed to two symbols. 

This time Lu Ye understood more easily: “Lin Yuan? Your name is Lin Yuan.”

He suddenly smiled: “You’re really a human?”

Lin Yuan ‘en-en’ed and nodded. He pointed to the paper many more times.

Sui Sui. Call me Sui Sui, the sui in year.

Lu Ye didn't speak, and his eyes twitched. Although he knew in his heart that he should coax Lin Yuan and make him happy, Lu Ye had been the proud son of heaven since he was young. Lu Ye took a shallow breath and changed his mindset quickly. He thought to himself that it was not difficult to control someone who liked him.

It was just calling a nickname, not a big deal.

Lu Ye slowly raised his eyes to look at Lin Yuan. In his voice there was a pinch of seductive aura: "Sui Sui, right? Then just now, at the school gate, when you wrote ‘husband’ were you calling me?”

Lin Yuan did not pick up on the subtle hints and just nodded obediently: Yes ah, because you are my husband.

There was a bone-chilling coldness hidden deep in Lu Ye's eyes, but his voice was bewitching, as if a poisonous snake was slowly wrapping around Lin Yuan's body: “Does that mean you like me?”
