PDMU 6 Cultivates Expert Monitors, Champions Continuous Learning for Stronger LGU Project Management
DILG Region VI’s Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) is making its mark in the local governance arena by creating a culture of continuous learning and hands-on expertise. Recognizing that good oversight is the foundation for successful infrastructure, PDMU personnel recently took part in an online intensive project management training series offered by the Office of Project Development Services (OPDS) on June 1-3 and June 8-9, 2026. This training enhanced their competencies throughout the project lifecycle through the integration of Philippine laws and technical standards, ensuring that the assistance provided to Local Government Units (LGUs) is based on current project management principles.
However, the attendees did not keep this knowledge within the agency. Instead, they immediately translated these lessons into community empowerment. PDMU Chief Atty. Maria Jenica D. Villabeto-Balani and Engineer III Carleen V. Tibi gave technical assistance as resource persons on June 10-11, 2026, during the activity of the Iloilo Provincial Government entitled: “Strengthening Project Monitoring Committees (PMCs) in Iloilo Province” at Hotel Del Rio. Atty. Villabeto-Balani emphasized the critical role of Local PMCs as independent bodies essential to transparency and accountability.
The training was not confined to theory and culminated in a field monitoring exercise in Dingle, Iloilo. Participants practiced project inspections and community interviews, applying their refined skills to real-world scenarios.
By bridging the gap between national technical standards and local field realities, PDMU 6 continues to build a resilient, well-equipped network of monitors. This proactive commitment ensures that all public projects in Western Visayas are not only built, but are also managed with accuracy, clarity, and a firm commitment to serve the people.
