2. Information We Collect

- file path
- file name
- file extension
- last used date and time
This recent-files data is stored locally on the device using local app storage.
c. Usage and device information
On supported platforms, the app may collect limited technical and usage information, such as:

4. How Your Files Are Handled
PDF Tools is designed to process your files locally on your device. Temporary working files may be created while using features such as conversion, compression, OCR, export, merge, split, or image processing.
Generated files may be saved in the app’s local documents area or in a location you choose through your device’s file picker or save dialog.
Some features, such as PDF to Word, may use on-device OCR for scanned pages. Based on the current app implementation, this OCR processing is performed locally on the device.
If you choose to share or open a file using another app, that sharing is handled by your device and the selected third-party app.
5. Analytics and Advertising
PDF Tools currently uses third-party services such as:
- Firebase Analytics
- Google Mobile Ads
These services may collect device identifiers, usage data, diagnostics, ad performance data, and interaction data according to their own privacy practices.
Based on the current app configuration:
- Firebase Analytics is configured on Android
- Google Mobile Ads is configured for Android ad units
- these services may not be active on every platform or device build
We use these services to:
- understand how the app is used
- improve features and reliability
- display banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads
- measure ad performance and engagement
Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
6. Permissions
Depending on your platform and the feature you use, PDF Tools may request access to:
- photos or media, to select images for Image to PDF and related features
- documents/files, to open and save PDFs and Office documents
- internet and network state, for analytics and ads
The app only uses these permissions to provide requested app features and supporting services.
7. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited information in the following situations:
- with Firebase Analytics and Google Mobile Ads, for analytics and advertising
- with your email provider if you choose to contact support by email
- with external apps if you choose to share or open files outside PDF Tools
- if required by law, regulation, legal process, or lawful government request
- to protect rights, safety, and prevent misuse of the app
8. Data Retention
Files you process remain under your control on your device unless you delete them or share them externally.
Local recent-file entries remain on the device until:
- they are removed by the app
- the referenced file no longer exists
- app data is cleared
- the app is uninstalled
Support emails are retained as needed to respond and provide support.
Third-party services such as Firebase and Google Ads may retain data according to their own retention policies.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to reduce privacy risks, including keeping most document processing on-device. However, no method of storage, transmission, or electronic processing is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for protecting sensitive files stored on your device and for choosing carefully before sharing files through other apps.
10. Children’s Privacy
PDF Tools is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review the situation.
