Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 16, 2026
Aroole ("we," "us," or "our") built the DocScanner application ("App") as a free application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
By using our App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Our App is designed with your privacy as a top priority. We collect and store only the minimum data necessary for the App to function.
1.1 Locally Stored Data
All data created within the App is stored exclusively on your device in the App's private storage area. This includes:
- Document images captured using your device camera.
- Processed versions of those images, such as cropped, filtered, or enhanced copies.
- Document metadata, including titles you assign, page counts, and creation or modification timestamps.
- App preferences, such as whether you have completed the onboarding process.
1.2 Data We Do Not Collect
We want to be clear about what we do not collect. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical address.
- Device identifiers such as IMEI, Android ID, or advertising identifiers.
- Location data.
- Usage analytics or behavioral data.
- Crash reports or diagnostic logs.
- Browsing history or search queries.
- Contacts, call logs, or messages.
- Biometric data.
- Financial or payment information.
2. Camera Access
Our App requests permission to access your device camera solely for the purpose of capturing document images for scanning. Camera access is requested at runtime, meaning you are prompted to grant permission when you first attempt to scan a document. You may deny or revoke this permission at any time through your device settings. We do not use the camera for facial recognition, background capture, or any purpose other than document scanning initiated by you.
3. Internet Permission
Our App declares the Internet permission in its configuration. However, the App does not make any network requests, transmit data to remote servers, or communicate with external services. No data leaves your device through the App. This permission exists for potential future functionality and does not affect your current privacy.
4. How Your Data Is Stored
All documents, images, and preferences are stored locally on your device within the App's private directory. This directory is sandboxed by the Android operating system, which means other applications on your device cannot access the data stored by our App. We do not use cloud storage, remote databases, or any form of external data synchronization.
Document images are saved in JPEG format with unique file names. Document metadata, including titles and timestamps, is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. Temporary files created during PDF export are stored in the device cache and are cleaned up after the export is complete.
5. Data Sharing
We do not share your data with any third parties. We do not sell, rent, license, or trade your personal information or documents to anyone.
The only way your data leaves the App is when you choose to share or export a document. When you export a PDF or share a document, the Android system sharing interface allows you to select a destination app, such as email or a messaging app. We have no control over how the receiving app handles the shared content. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any app you share documents with.
6. Third-Party Services
Our App does not integrate any third-party services. Specifically, we do not use:
- Advertising SDKs or ad networks.
- Analytics or tracking services.
- Crash reporting tools.
- Social media SDKs.
- Cloud storage or backup services.
- Authentication or login providers.
- Any other third-party libraries that collect user data.
All processing, including image capture, edge detection, perspective correction, and filter application, is performed entirely on your device.
7. User Accounts
Our App does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use it. The App functions fully without any form of registration or authentication.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Your documents and images are retained on your device for as long as you choose to keep them. You can delete individual documents or pages at any time from within the App. When you delete a document, the associated images and metadata are permanently removed from your device.
If you uninstall the App, all data stored by the App, including documents, images, metadata, and preferences, is automatically deleted from your device by the Android operating system.
9. Children's Privacy
Our App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the App does not collect any personal information from any user, it is safe for use by individuals of all ages. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through our App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Security
We take the security of your data seriously. All App data is stored in the Android operating system's private application directory, which is protected by the OS-level sandboxing mechanism. This prevents other apps from accessing your scanned documents and images. We do not transmit data over the internet, which eliminates risks associated with data interception during transmission.
However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security against all threats, particularly those involving physical access to your device.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
12. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view all your documents and data directly within the App at any time.
- Deletion: You can delete any or all documents and data from within the App at any time.
- Portability: You can export your documents as PDF files and save or share them as you choose.
- Revoke Permissions: You can revoke camera permission at any time through your device settings.
Since all data is stored locally on your device and we do not have access to it, you have full and direct control over your data at all times.
