Privacy Policy (for PDFAid)
Last updated: 2026-03-26
Overview
PDFAid is a PDF utility app that helps you view and process PDF documents on your device (merge, split, compress, convert, OCR, etc.). We aim to collect as little data as possible.
Data We Collect
We do not require you to create an account.
We do not collect your PDF contents or upload them to our servers.
The app may collect limited technical data automatically through third‑party services used for ads or analytics (see “Third‑party Services”).
Files & Document Access
To work, PDFAid needs access to files you choose:
Storage / Downloads access: Used only to list and open PDFs in your Downloads folder and to save output files created by tools (merged/split/compressed/converted PDFs, exported images).
On Android 13+ you may be asked to select the Downloads folder using the system file picker. This permission allows PDFAid to read files in that folder.
PDFAid processes files locally on your device unless a feature explicitly states otherwise.
Permissions We Use (Why)
Storage / File access: To read PDFs from your device and save results.
Internet: Used for ads (if enabled) and to download required components (e.g., OCR model components on some devices).
Advertising ID (AD_ID): Used by Google AdMob for ad personalization/measurement (if ads are enabled).
Third‑party Services
PDFAid may use:
Google AdMob (Google Play services ads) for showing ads.
Google ML Kit Text Recognition for OCR on-device (some components may be delivered by Google services).
These providers may collect data as described in their own policies. You should review:
Ads
If ads are enabled, AdMob may use:
device identifiers (including Advertising ID where available),
approximate location inferred from IP,
app usage/interaction signals, to show and measure ads.
Data Storage
PDFAid may store app settings (e.g., theme) and basic app data locally.
Output files created by tools are saved to your device storage (app output folder).
Children’s Privacy
PDFAid is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Security
We take reasonable measures to keep your data safe. However, no method of storage is 100% secure. Your PDFs remain on your device and are only accessed when you choose them.
Your Choices
You can deny file permissions; the app may not be able to list/open PDFs from Downloads.
You can remove folder access in Android Settings at any time.
You can reset Advertising ID in device settings (if supported).
