PDF Reader (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information, your rights, and legal compliance globally.
PDF Reader collects limited technical data to improve app performance and user experience. We use these insights to monitor app stability, analyze feature engagement, and conduct A/B testing (via Firebase Remote Config) to optimize functionality.
No Direct Personal Identifiers: We do not collect directly identifiable personal information such as names, email addresses, or phone numbers. However, we collect limited device-related identifiers (such as Firebase Installation ID and, if applicable, Advertising ID) and app usage data, which may be considered personal data under applicable laws.
No Document Data: Your PDF files are processed locally. We do not upload or store the content of your documents.
Local Processing Only: Your PDF documents, images captured via the camera (for scanning purposes), and files accessed through your device storage are processed entirely on your device. We do not upload or store your private documents, photos, or files on our servers.
Third-Party Services:
We use Google Firebase (provided by Google LLC) for analytics, performance monitoring, and app optimization.
Data collected may include:
- Device identifiers (e.g., Firebase Installation ID and, if applicable, Advertising ID)
- App usage data (e.g., session duration, feature interactions)
- Device and system information (e.g., device model, operating system version)
Purpose: This data is used solely for analytics, crash reporting, and improving app performance. We do not use this data for personalized advertising.
Google Firebase acts as a data processor on our behalf. Data is processed in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy.
User Consent (EEA and Similar Regions)
Where required by applicable laws (such as in the European Economic Area), we will request your consent before collecting analytics data via Firebase.
You may withdraw your consent at any time through your device settings or by discontinuing use of the application.
Data may be processed on servers located outside your country, including the United States.
We do not store personal data on our own servers.
Data collected via Firebase is processed and stored by Google and is subject to Google’s data retention policies.
Users may:
- Reset their Advertising ID via device settings
- Uninstall the application to stop further data collection
- Contact us to request assistance with data-related inquiries
We will assist in fulfilling data requests where technically feasible.
We do not have direct control over data stored by Google Firebase.
User Right to Access Data:
Users may request access to the technical data associated with their device identifiers by contacting us.
Additionally, certain identifiers (such as Advertising ID) can be managed directly through device settings.
Since we do not collect direct personal identity information, this right is primarily applicable to the technical identifiers described in Section 2, which can be managed via your device settings.
You may withdraw your consent at any time through your device settings or by discontinuing use of the application.
Users have the right to know whether personal data is sold.
PDF Reader does not sell any personal data.
Users have the right to know whether personal data is shared with third parties.
PDF Reader does not share personal data with third parties except for limited technical data shared with Google Firebase for analytics and app optimization as described in Section 2.
In accordance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other state privacy laws, users have the right to opt-out of the "sale" or "sharing" of their personal information to third parties.
Our Practice: PDF Reader does not sell your personal information (such as identifiers or usage data) to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration. We also do not "share" your data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How to Exercise This Right: Although we do not sell your data, you may still formally exercise your right to opt-out of any future potential sale or data sharing by:
Email Request: Send an email to bowang.liu.lbw@gmail.com with the subject line "CCPA Opt-Out Request." We will verify and process your request within 45 days.
Device-Level Controls: You can further limit the sharing of technical identifiers by resetting your Advertising ID in your Android device's privacy settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads).
No Discrimination: We will not discriminate against any user (e.g., by denying service or providing a different quality of service) for exercising their privacy rights.
We retain the limited technical information we collect only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, or as required by law.
Local Content: All PDF documents and images processed via the camera are stored strictly on your device's local storage. We do not have access to this data, and it remains there until you manually delete the files or uninstall the application.
Technical Identifiers & Analytics (Firebase): Limited technical data (such as Advertising ID and Firebase Installation ID) and usage events processed by Google Firebase are retained according to Google's data retention policies.
Retention Period: Firebase Analytics data is typically retained for up to 14 months by default, after which it is deleted or aggregated into non-identifiable reports.
Purpose of Retention: We retain this data to monitor app stability (crash logs), analyze long-term usage trends, and ensure the effectiveness of app optimizations.
Communication Records: If you contact us via email, we will retain your inquiry and contact information only as long as necessary to resolve your request and for a maximum of 24 months thereafter for record-keeping purposes, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
User Deletion: You can trigger the deletion of your local data at any time by clearing the app cache or uninstalling the app. For technical identifiers, resetting your Advertising ID in your device settings will effectively sever the link to your historical analytics data.
PDF Reader does not use your personal data for targeted advertising or to build marketing profiles. The technical identifiers collected (as described in Section 2) are used exclusively for app performance, stability, and A/B testing via Google Firebase. Since we do not perform targeted advertising, no specialized in-app toggle is required; however, your device-level "Opt out of Ads Personalization" setting will be honored by our third-party service provider, Google.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. PDF Reader does not sell or share your data for behavioral advertising. You may exercise these rights as detailed in Section 8.

Under the VCDPA, Virginia residents have the right to access, correct, delete, and opt-out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or profiling. PDF Reader does not engage in these activities. Instructions on how to exercise your opt-out rights are provided in Section 8 and Section 10.
PDF Reader requests the following permissions:
CAMERA: Used exclusively to capture images of physical documents for conversion into PDF format (scanning feature). All processing is local.
INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to load this Privacy Policy and transmit anonymized performance data to Firebase.
AD_ID & ACCESS_ADSERVICES (Attribution/AD_ID): Used only for install attribution in compliance with Google Play policies. Not used for advertising or user profiling.
WAKE_LOCK: Prevents the device from sleeping during intensive PDF rendering or conversion tasks.
BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE: Used to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.
DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION: A standard Android security permission for internal app communication.
These permissions are used strictly for the technical operations and optimization purposes described above and do not access your private documents or identity information.
Users may lodge complaints with their local data protection authority.
Since PDF Reader does not collect direct personal identifiers (such as names or emails), any complaints would pertain primarily to transparency and data processing compliance.
We rely on:
- User consent (where required, such as in the European Economic Area) for analytics data collection
- Legitimate interests for ensuring app functionality, security, and performance
Users have rights under GDPR: access, correction, deletion, and portability. Since our collection is limited to technical identifiers, you may exercise these rights by resetting your device's Advertising ID as described in Section 4, or by contacting us for assistance.
Users have rights under LGPD: access, correction, deletion, and portability of personal data. As our collection is limited to the technical identifiers mentioned in Section 2, these rights can be exercised through your device’s privacy settings or by contacting our support email.
