Methodology: Google search was done to compile a list of Bollywood movies portraying psychiatric illnesses. Each movie was screened for character details, symptoms, diagnosis, and accuracy of depiction.
Results: Twenty-eight movies were analyzed. Most characters were middle-aged, unmarried, employed, and affluent. Most common symptom was aggression and diagnosis was Schizophrenia. Treatment-seeking was low and common outcome was deterioration.

This film directed by Anant Mahadevan is the story of an Indian freedom fighter from Odisha, Sri Gour Hari Das. Gour Hari Das fought for a certificate recognizing his work as a freedom fighter which took three full decades to arrive. Vinay Pathak plays the lead role in this film and stands out for his outstanding approach towards such a sensitive character. Pollywood is a Punjabi Cinema industry in India and Pakistan which produces films in the Punjabi language. Pollywood has become synonymous with the Indian Punjab especially in the 21st century because of the quality and number of Punjabi film it produces. Punjabi cinema has grown from producing five movies in 1997 to producing over 100 films annually. Pollywood currently spends a lot of money and uses home-grown stars and Bollywood actors in its film production. The gross earnings for the film industry have also increased significantly with some movies bringing in more than $10 million.

Propaganda cinema, typically associated with autocracies like North Korea, Russia and Nazi-era Germany, appears to have found a home in India too. Several recent theatrical releases from Bollywood in particular have been labelled propaganda films. But how to tell these movies apart from the regular Friday offerings?
Muslims are nearly always the villains of terrorism-themed movies, war dramas and espionage thrillers, as Kashmiri militants, local Quislings or Islamist terrorists working closely with the Pakistan Army and spy agency. Such movies are called masala movies, after the Hindustani word for a spice mixture, masala. Like masalas, these movies are a mixture of many things.
Bollywood movies are often longer than those made in Hollywood. A normal Bollywood movie is about 3 hours long. Bollywood movies are movies made for the masses. Other Indian movies are made inside or outside of the Bollywood tradition. They sometimes try to set higher standards. They often lose out at the box office to movies with more mass appeal.
Bollywood songs are called Hindi film songs or filmi songs. Most of the movies have songs in them. Bollywood songs along with dances are a characteristic part of Hindi cinema. They give these movies their popular appeal, cultural value and context. Songs are sung by playback singers which actors and actresses lip sync on screen.
Bollywood ways of doing things are changing, however.
