Pavel Bessarab - Group Homepage

Science Institute – University of Iceland

Welcome to the website of the condensed matter theory group of Dr. Pavel Bessarab at the Science Institute - University of Iceland. We are funded by The Icelandic Research Fund and the University of Iceland Research Fund.

Our research mainly focuses on the development of theoretical and computational methods for condensed matter physics, especially theory of magnetism. Of particular interest are: origin of noncollinear magnetism in itinerant electron systems, thermal stability of magnetic states and its effects on the magnetic properties of nanostructures, long time-scale evolution of magnetic states, ab initio atomistic spin dynamics. Theoretical tools being developed in the group to describe nanomagnetism have interesting side applications such as ionospheric ray tracing.
