Science & Art for the Study of Natural Dyes

Paula Nabais, won a project for a Junior Researcher contract in the 2021 highly competitive Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus promoted by FCT, at LAQV@REQUIMTE, the Portuguese Research Centre for Sustainable Chemistry (Cultural Heritage thematic line). She is a heritage scientist with expertise in the study of organic colorants and the use of analytical techniques for the characterization of artworks. Her incredibly interdisciplinary background is crucial to the project, uniting arts, history and sciences for the discovery of historical formulations to be (re)invented in modern applications.

Project Disclosing Lost Yellows won a CEEC contract!

Project YES "Disclosing Lost Yellows" won the CEEC contract 4th Edition. This is an Individual research contract aimed at PhD holders of any nationality or stateless with a background in any scientific area who wish to develop their scientific research or technological development activity in Portugal.

This will allow Paula Nabais, to develop this project for the next 6 years.

First dyeing experiments following 18th c. French recipes!

With the collaboration of Dominique Cardon, and following the recipes published in her lastest books, Paula Nabais and Mara Santo, within the scope of project YES, have reproduced the first yellow colors of master dyers Antoine Janot and Paul Gout.

Stand at the New European Bauhaus Festival for EuroWeb

Paula Nabais went to the New European Bauhaus in representation of COST Action EuroWeb. The NEB is a festival organized by the European Union all about sustainability! EuroWeb had a stand presenting how natural dyes and fibres can be used to revolutionize the modern textile industry.
