I'm a sociologist studying the intersections of technology, markets, and morality. Is artificial intelligence morally responsible for its actions? How can we change our consumption patterns to realize sustainable development and a just society? How does the cultural context influence the use of new technologies for the social good? To address questions like these, I integrate rigorous analytical theory with a diverse range of research methods and designs.
I am the author of a book on the consumption of fair trade products in Switzerland and have published in leading sociology journals, including Sociological Perspectives, Socius, Sociological Science, Social Problems, and Kölner Zeitschrift für Soziologie und Sozialpsychologie, as well as interdisciplinary outlets such as Technology in Society and Sustainability.
Beyond publishing, I regularly present my research to both academic and public audiences. I am also deeply committed to teaching and was honored to receive the “Best Teacher Award” at the University of Lucerne for two consecutive years. I was a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto and at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne. I currently serve as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Zurich and as a lecturer at the University of Lucerne.
