My name is Patrick Heslin and I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig, working in the Applied Analysis group of Prof. László Székelyhidi. My research interests lie primarily in the geometry and analysis of non-linear partial differential equations arising in fluid dynamics and other areas of mathematical physics.
I received my PhD from the University of Notre Dame in 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Gerard Misiołek. Before moving to Leipzig, I held postdoctoral positions at Florida State University and Maynooth University where I was supported by the National University of Ireland's Dr. Éamon de Valera Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Mathematical Sciences.
I am coorganising a conference on Geometric Hydrodynamics at the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig in June 2027, with Martina Zizza and László Székelyhidi.
I am a member of the European Mathematical Society Young Academy for 2025–2028.
