I'm an enthusiastic teacher and life-long learner. I was lucky enough to have several amazing teachers from elementary school through grad school. Inspired by them, I've wanted to teach history since I was in high school. Having initially taught undergraduates and adult learners in the UK, I returned to the US and discovered that my real passion was teaching teenagers in independent schools.
I love working with teenagers, and firmly believe that studying history plays an important part in helping them grow into mature, curious, responsible, and empathetic adults.
I currently teach 9th-grade Global Studies I Honors, AP World History, and a senior independent-study course on the history of world art. I've also previously taught AP European History and on-level Modern World Civilizations, as well as 9th- and 10th-grade world literature classes.
Outside of the classroom, I am co-advisor of the National Honor Society, advisor, and coach for the debate and Academic WorldQuest teams, sponsor of the politics and literature clubs, a senior chapel talk coach, a 9th-grade advisor, and member of the school's Equity Taskforce. My favorite sports teams are always those my students are on (plus Cambridge rowing!).
I read widely around history, and try to keep up with the latest scholarship. Other than reading, my main hobbies are cooking, film, and travel.
