Welcome to my website. On this site you will find information about my family, school staff and board goals, district professional learning, and information regarding the HMS construction project.
I joined the “Hawk Nation” in July of 2018 and have enjoyed getting to work with the awesome staff, students and community members of HMS. I am excited to be a part of a district that works diligently to provide a rigorous academic program, with limitless opportunities, within a fun and caring environment.
I began my educational experience in Graettinger, Iowa where I attended elementary, middle, and high school. Following high school graduation in 2000, I attended the University of Northern Iowa where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, with certifications in both coaching and K-8 Social Studies. Following graduation from UNI in 2005, I began my career teaching elementary and middle school at a behavioral alternative school in Davenport. During this time I completed my Master’s of Educational Administration and Leadership Degree at St. Ambrose University in Davenport. Also during this time I began pursuing my Master’s Degree in Special Education at Western Illinois University. During the 2011-2012 school year I became a Special Education Assistant Sector Coordinator for Keystone AEA. Following this opportunity I served as an Instructional Coach for the Waterloo CSD where I worked with building teams to design academic and behavioral interventions for at-risk students. Then from 2014-2018 I served at Dunkerton CSD as the Elementary Principal/Special Education Director. In addition, I also served as an adjunct professor in the special education department at Upper Iowa University.
I look forward to collaborating with all of you as we work to carry out of mission to empower students to be life-long learners and caring, responsible citizens. Go Hawks!
With Hawk Pride,
Patrick Carlin
