Passover Tidbit No. 12

Appointment and Rehearsal

Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:4 reads like this in English.  "These are the Feasts of Yahuah even Holy Convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons".  Similarly, Vayiqra 23:37 reads like this in English "These are the Feasts of YHVH, which (Aleph Tav) ye shall proclaim Holy Convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto Yahuah, a burnt offering, a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings everything upon its day".  These are but two of the 300 or more verses instructing the Children of YHVH to celebrate all of the Feasts of YHVH.  It should be apparent and obvious to each person who has ever read the TaNaKh, or the Second Testament Yahuah Elohiym desires that His people celebrate His Feasts, and according to 23:37 and other verses "everything upon its day".

We take communion at our church often from a table, or altar, often with an inscription "Remember Me as You Do This".  Remember is za-car' זכר and means to speak up or act on, this thing you are "remembering".  Perhaps you believe the act of getting up and taking communion, or having it brought to your seat, is enough. Perhaps it is, I cannot answer for you.  It is clear from the context of the Last Supper, as the Roman Catholics call it, the final Earthly Pesach Seder before Y'shua made the sacrifice on the Roman cross, He might expect more from His Children.  Pesach is not to be celebrated every week or every day but once a year on a specific day Nisan 14.  On that day 3500 years ago Y’shua declined to drink of the last cup of wine telling the Disciples He would drink this last cup of wine upon His return.  We have discussed that before.

My point tonight is in both verses above the word translated as "feast" in English is the Hebrew word mo'-ed מעד .  It is from the Hebrew word yaw'-ad  יעד which is an appointment, from the two letters Aleph Dalet (AD אד ) which is the word for witness or testimony. In the King James mo'-ed is also translated as congregation, season, assembly, appointed time, solemn, synagogue, sign and the like. YHVH has made an appointment with His congregation to share His testimony, a feast.  In verse 23:4 above mo'ed appears twice, translated once as "feast" and once as "seasons", this is indeed the season of the Feasts of YHVH.

The word translated as convocation in both of the above verses is the Hebrew word mik-raw'  מקרא or the reading of a scroll at a meeting.  It is the instructions to be given to a group of people at a meeting or event.  It is the rehearsal instructions before the play can go to the audience.  Both times mik-raw' is proceeded by the word ko-desh'  קדש translated as Holy, meaning these instructions are set apart for a special purpose, by YHVH Himself and given directly to you, to me His people. 

All right then, the Feasts of YHVH are special events set aside for a specific and unusual reason, at a specific time and place, by YHVH because He wants to give us His testimony, witness, and instructions, so we can practice a rehearsal, for coming events.
