We're creators, makers, consumers and disseminators. As independent artists, we are proud to connect community to creatives and their art every first Friday of the month. Salt Lake City is home base and you can find our work across the Wasatch Front in the most forward thinking museums, businesses, restaurants, and cultural hubs.

Pasifika First Fridays aims to celebrate and enrich the lives of citizens through arts by providing opportunities in a safe and supportive environment. Our goal is to provide a platform for Pacific Islander artists to express themselves...whatever medium that takes.

Our Team
PFF is led and curated by founders Malia Taula, Monique HoChing, and Moana Palelei HoChing. Through their collective art experience and years of community service, this team of sisters balance curatorial, design work, dissemination, recruitment, and organizing each month.
Our Story
Per-capita, Utah houses the largest population of Pacific Islanders in the contiguous United States. As one of the most significant cities of Pasifika (Pacific) migration in the US, the presence of Pasifika citizens in Utah predate the State’s founding. As we continue to be the fastest growing population in Utah, Pacific Islanders enrich the diversity of Salt Lake City culture. Pacific Islander history is Utah history.
Established in March of 2018, Pasifika First Fridays (PFF) was founded by a group of siblings and close friends. Seeing a need to create and hold space for Pacific Islander artists to present their work, Pasifika First Fridays set out to create a platform of gathering each month.
Based on storytelling of people and place, PFF convenes likeminded folks to connect with a platform of Pasifika creatives. The goal of PFF is to support, activate, and create a space for citizens to express themselves, as well as generate, transmit, and protect Oceania art and stories across the Wasatch Front.
