Welcome to Parko ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, Parko (the "App"). Please read this privacy policy carefully. When you use Parko, we may collect the following types of information:

• Location Data:

  • Precise Location: If you grant permission, we collect your device's precise GPS location to help you find nearby parking spots. You can disable location services for the App through your device settings at any time, but this will limit the App's ability to find parking near your current location.

  • Searched Locations: We collect the locations or addresses you manually search for within the App to provide parking information for those areas.

• Usage and Device Information (via Third-Party Services):

  • We use third-party services like Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with the App. This may include:

    • Device type and operating system

    • IP address (which may be used to infer general location)

    • App features used and session duration

    • Crash reports and performance data

• • This information is generally aggregated or pseudonymized and is used to help us understand app usage, improve performance, and fix bugs.

Parko does not require you to create a user account, and we do not collect personal identifiers like your name, email address, or phone number directly through the App for user account purposes. The App is designed to be used anonymously.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To Provide Core Functionality:

  • To display nearby parking spots based on your current or searched location.

• To Improve and Maintain the App:

  • To understand how users interact with Parko so we can enhance features and user experience (via Firebase Analytics).

  • To identify and fix crashes or bugs (via Firebase Crashlytics).

  • To monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the App's functionality and performance.

• To Ensure Security:

  • To monitor for and prevent potential fraudulent activity or security issues.

3. Disclosure of Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information we have collected about you in the following limited situations:

• Third-Party Service Providers:

  • Google Maps: Parko uses Google Maps Platform services to display maps and provide location-based services. Your use of these map features is subject to Google Maps Platform's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy, which we encourage you to review. Information like your location queries may be shared with Google to enable map functionality.

  • Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics): Information collected by Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics is processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policies. This data helps us understand app usage and stability.

• By Law or to Protect Rights:

  • If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.

• Business Transfers:

  • In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, information collected by the App may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via a prominent notice within the App of any change in ownership or uses of your information, as well as any choices you may have.

  • We may share aggregated or anonymized information (which cannot reasonably be used to identify you) with third parties for research, analysis, or other purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

Parko does not store your personal user data (like search history or favorites) on our servers. Location data used for searching is processed in real-time and not persistently stored in a way that is identifiable to you beyond the session or for analytics purposes as described above.

We and our third-party service providers (like Google/Firebase) implement reasonable security measures to protect the information processed by the App. However, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

5. Your Choices and Rights

• Location Information: You can control the App's access to your device's precise location information at any time through your mobile device's settings menu. Disabling location access will prevent the App from finding parking near your current location.

• Analytics: You may be able to opt-out of some Firebase features through your mobile device settings (e.g., by limiting ad tracking, though Parko does not currently serve ads). For more information on Firebase's privacy practices, please review their policies.

• Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR for users in Europe, CCPA for users in California), you may have additional rights regarding your personal data, such as the right to access, correct, or request deletion of data that third-party services may hold. For data processed by Google Maps or Firebase, you would typically need to refer to their respective privacy policies and tools for exercising these rights.

6. Children's Privacy

Parko is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or other age as required by local law, e.g., 16 in some parts of Europe). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the relevant age, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App (e.g., in an "About" or "Settings" section) and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the App after such modifications will constitute your acknowledgment of the modified Privacy Policy.
