My name is परीक्षित. People who cannot read it call me Parik. I come from Nepal, a calm country that perches in the footsteps of Tibet.
I am a Ph.D. candidate (Year 3) at the department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics at The Johns Hopkins University. I was studying Humanities at Soka University of America earlier. Here is a compact CV if that is of interest to you. Feel free to email me at pchalis1 at jhu dot edu to chat more.
I must delightfully mention that I have the greatest fortune of editing the footnotes of Dr. Edinah Gnang, my invincible advisor at Johns Hopkins.
"There are moments in our lives, there are moments in a day, when we seem to see beyond the usual – become clairvoyant. We reach then into reality. Such are the moments of our greatest happiness. Such are the moments of our greatest wisdom.
At such times, there is a song going on within us, a song to which we listen. It fills us with surprise. We marvel at it. We would continue to hear it. But few are capable of holding themselves in the state of listening to their own song. Intellectuality steps in and as the song within us is of the utmost sensitiveness, it retires in the presence of the cold material intellect . . . yet we live in the memory of these songs . . . They are the pinnacles of our experience and it is the desire to express these intimate sensations, this song from within, which motivates the masters of all art."
Robert Henri, The Art Spirit
I rejoice in all things at the intersection of beauty and truth, treading waters of intellect and aesthetics. Fundamentally, all is an intertwined navigation of the infinity. Too deep, too deep.
FROM THE UNDERGRADUATE YEARS
"One speculates at the feeling. How rare and fleeting it appears to be. One imagines it is life itself, the ability to think and feel, just that alone, that they adore as the dark room flickers, the music unfolds, and the blessed analog tape churns."
Jim Merod
Not the least, here is a reading list for those of you intellect seekers. However gently should you be touched by any of them, do give me the privilege of hearing your impression.
