In an interview with Rolling Stone, lead vocalist Hayley Williams explained "That whole time for our band was such a dark season. It was emotionally exhausting, and by the time we got around to the point where we were going to start writing, we just really wanted to enjoy the process of making an album" when asked about the direction of the band after Brand New Eyes.[12] Regarding the album being self-titled, Williams explained "The self-titled aspect of the whole thing is definitely a statement. I feel like it's not only reintroducing the band to the world, but even to ourselves ... By the end of it, it felt like we're a new band."[13] She also stated that she was inspired by Blondie's and Siouxsie and the Banshees' records when writing the new songs: "They've got so much heart and soul in them."[14]

The vinyl version of the album was streamed beginning on April 1, 2013 for four days, with each day playing one of the four sides.[20] The album was then officially released on April 5, 2013.[21][22] The band played an acoustic version of "Hate to See Your Heart Break" on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge on April 3, 2013, announcing that on the same night, the full song would be premiered on their official website.[23] On April 20, 2013, the band released an EP for Record Store Day, titled The Holiday Sessions, released exclusively on a 7" vinyl, and is composed of the three interludes from this album.[24][25] A music video for "Anklebiters" was released on June 25, 2013. The song, however, was not released as a single.[26]

The album has been a major commercial success worldwide, debuting at number one in eight countries including the UK, Ireland, Scotland, Argentina, New Zealand, Brazil and Australia (where it was the eighth consecutive number one debut on the chart and also the 32nd self-titled album to top the Australian chart).[97] The album also peaked within the top 20 of 9 other countries. In the US, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, with first week sales of 106,000 copies. This marks the first Paramore album to reach the top spot on the chart.[98]

When asked about why the album is self-titled, Williams explained "The self-titled aspect of the whole thing is definitely a statement. I feel like it's not only reintroducing the band to the world but even to ourselves ... By the end of it, it felt like we're a new band."

2. Still Into You (- March 2013) was the second single in the album. The music video to the song was very different from other music videos Paramore had made, as the song itself was labeled as 'pop' in many countries. Now was said to be alternative. The music video of Still Into You came out on April 8, 2013, and was the last single to be made into a music video before the release of the album. Still Into You had received many awards and became one of the band's top hits and the most viewed music video from the songs in this album.

When a band lose two of their four founding members, including their principal music writer, in an acrimonious split, few would put money on the band going on to bigger and better things. Yet this is exactly what Tennessee emo band Paramore have done. When guitarist and songwriter Josh Farro and drummer Zac Farro left at the end of 2010, the three remaining members stayed together, refocused, and, two and a half years later, came up with the eponymously titled and widely praised Paramore. Released in April, the album received rave reviews and topped charts around the world, including the UK and the US, making it the band's first native number one.

"The sessions for the Paramore album usually had about 50-60 tracks, sometimes more, because there were a couple of songs that had a small orchestra on them. But the mixes didn't take that long, because they had been pretty smart about how they had recorded everything. The engineer, Carlos de la Garza, is really talented, everything was super-well recorded and the sessions were organised the way I like it, which is pretty common, with the drums at the top, the vocals at the bottom, and the instruments in between. When I receive a session, the first thing I do is a 'Save As' with my initials at the end, and I then listen to the rough, which usually has been printed back into the session. I get a sense of the vibe and direction of the song and I familiarise myself with the tracks that are in the session and then do some housekeeping, like going through all the regions and deleting any blank spaces. These blank spaces don't usually have noise on them, it's purely for me to have visual cues in the Edit window to see where parts begin and end.

"The rough mixes for the Paramore album were a really good representation of what they wanted, especially in terms of overall tone and balance. If you compared the roughs with my final mixes, you'd notice that there was a sensibility in the roughs that I kept. I wasn't asked to reinvent things or anything like that, or mix with an eye on the charts. The drums were really well recorded, but, like most mixers, I have my bag of tricks to make them sound bigger and punchier and whatnot. Mixing was simply a matter of pleasing myself and the band, and once we had done that, we trusted that other people would also like it. Having said that, the recordings were relatively polished and the band were clearly not after an uncommercial sound. We weren't making a White Stripes record. That dictated the presentation somewhat.

By the time Paramore released their self-titled album, in April 2013, the Tennessee pop-punks were veterans of the scene. And yet they were barely into their 20s. While their peers were worrying about their high-school exams and dates for prom, Paramore were releasing albums to major critical acclaim and tearing up stages on the Warped Tour. And by the end of the 2000s, the emo titans had sold millions of albums and packed stadiums the world over. But growing up is hard for any teenager, and Paramore were doing it under the full scrutiny of the media and the public.

Paramore are gearing up for a new album in the new year, but it's one of their past records that has fans buzzing at the moment. The band has changed the album art for 2013's self-titled album on Spotify to where it now features singer Hayley Williams shot from behind sporting a jacket with the words "GROW UP" painted across the back.

The Paramore self-titled set was the band's fourth studio album, yielding the singles "Now," "Still Into You," "Daydreaming" and "Ain't It Fun." It hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

With their self-titled fourth album set for release on April 8th, I had a quick listen to a few new songs, read a few early interviews that were available online, and was lucky enough to grab twenty minutes with three smiley Americans to interrogate them what they have in store for the fans/me.
