Philippine Mahogany

(Shorea negrosensis)

aka: Meranti/Lauan

Not a true Mahogany, but a term used loosely to cover many species of wood in the Shorea genus out of Southeast Asia. Wood is relatively easy to work and will screw, nail and stain satisfactorily. The wood is a medium hard wood that is frequently used in door and window casings, trim, molding, furniture and cabinet making.
