Hawaii's best know wood, Koa is endemic to Hawaii (grows naturally nowhere else). The wood is light brown to reddish brown and sometimes heavily figured, The wood is susceptible to insect damage and not resistant to decay. Historically, larger Koa trees were used in carving Native Hawaiian canoes, but today mostly used in furniture, bowls, turnery, and cabinet work.
Normally stock 4/4, 8/4 thick lumber.
