This printer has the part numbers D3Q19A, D3Q19B, D3Q19C, and D3Q19D. The maximum tray capacity regarding weight is 75 GSM or a 20-lb bond paper. There are two trays in use with this printer; one can hold 50 sheets while the other holds about 500 sheets of plain paper. In addition to these, there is an optional tray that can hold up to 500 sheets. Also, the printer works with an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) of 50 sheets, and the standard output tray holds 300 sheets. The ADF is available in all models of HP printer Pagewide Pro MFP 477dn/DW series. More so, the feature saves the environment and saves you money.

HP PageWide Pro 477dn MFP driver connectivity options include a USB 2.0 device front port. This port is in addition to the host USB type A and type B ports at the rear. Another connectivity option is an 802.3 LAN (10/100) Ethernet port. Printing with simplex speeds up to 40 pages per minute (ppm) for both monochrome and color.

Scanning gets an enhancement from the duplexer to the speed of 26 ppm for both color and black. The printer can scan to a walk-up USB device, email address, network folder and a SharePoint site. It also uses an HP software that enables scanning a document to a file that is editable. It is also compatible with TWAIN, WIA and WS-Scan programs. For Windows 10 64-bit systems HP has the wrong software on their support website. They screwed up and posted the software for the 477dn printer on the web page for the 477dw. Take a close look at the title of the installer window and make certain it says "477dw" not "477dn".

HP PageWide Pro MFP 477dn bricked by latest FW update 9/29/2023. Network cable plugged in and the touch screen goes dead after the printer initializes. 2023 has been a great year for HP bricking printers via updates.

I got a tech genius friend on it for 3 hours and eventually removing the 477dw driver, reinitialising the wifi network via touchscreen then installing the HP Universal Printer Driver pcl6 has sorted the issue. This driver seemed to do the job when all the HP software assistants failed!

Installing the printer driver correctly: Do not connect the printer to the computer. Start installing the software first. During the installation process, a message will appear on the monitor informing you when to connect the printer to your computer.

To use any computer device, software (driver) is required. It is recommended to use the original software included with the computer device. If you don't have the software and can't find it on your computer device manufacturer's website, we can help. Tell us the model of your printer, scanner, monitor or other computer device, as well as the operating system version (for example: Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, etc.).

this is the end result of it, currently i have less than half the assigned printers installed on my computer, some duplicates that havent been replaced from my old print server (didnt deploy printers through gpo on my last server) and i have what looks like duplicate drivers appearing on control panel.

when checking the properties of printers in the control panel I can see that they are named printers that are shared out of the new print server, except they arent using the share name given to them by the print server but rather the name of the driver its using.

For possible reason why you have duplicates or dead printers in your control panel:

In order to remove dead printers from your workstations (local or deployed) you have to create a printer with exactly the same name as the existing dead printer you want removed, and place that your printers GPO, and set it to DELETE.

IE: Create a new "Local Printer" "HP PageWide Pro 477dn", or "Shared Printer" "\\OLDSERVER\HP PageWide Pro 477dn", and set it to Action DELETE.

**Note that if your printers are named the same on both the old and new server, it will delete the old and the new printer when you are trying to delete them through GPO since the delete action does not look at the path anymore, but just the printer name.

Recent updates on Windows Server have made it so that if you're using a TYPE 3 or less print driver, and depending on the model of printer, the name of the printer driver will be used and it will ignore the shared name of your deployed printer. This is a known issue, and I haven't read up enough to know if this is fixed yet, but it's happening on my Server 2019. The only way to see the shared name is when your users set the printer as default, and only while it's set as default will they see that correct name.

The alternative is to somehow get TYPE 4 drivers if they are available. But test these first, since some printers are less co-operative at deploying their settings with a Type 4.. like Ricoh.
