Welcome to Paperly ("App", "we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, disclosed, and protected when you use Paperly.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By downloading, installing, or using Paperly, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. About Paperly
Paperly is an Android PDF utility app designed to help users view, organize, merge, split, export, and create PDF files from images.
Paperly may provide the following features:
PDF viewing: open and preview PDF documents selected by the user.
PDF file library: display imported and app-generated PDF records.
PDF merge: combine multiple selected PDF files into one PDF.
PDF split: extract selected pages or page ranges into a new PDF.
Images to PDF: create a PDF from images selected by the user.
Export and share: allow users to save generated PDFs through the Android system document picker or share files through Android system sharing features.
Paperly does not provide cloud storage, account login, OCR, password recovery, electronic signature, or remote document processing in the current version.
2. Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to your use of Paperly and all features provided through the App.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, SDKs, services, or applications that may be linked from or integrated into the App. Those third parties are governed by their own privacy policies.
3. Information We Collect
To provide, maintain, analyze, monetize, and improve Paperly, we may collect or process the following categories of information.
3.1 PDF and File Information
When you import or generate PDF files, Paperly may process file-related information on your device, such as:
file name
file type
file size
page count
last modified time
file source, such as imported, generated, or sample
local file reference or Android system content URI
thumbnail cache generated from the first page or selected pages
Paperly uses this information to show your file library, open PDFs, generate thumbnails, rename display names, remove records, export files, and perform PDF operations requested by you.
Paperly does not upload your PDF documents to our servers for viewing, merging, splitting, or image-to-PDF conversion. These PDF operations are designed to run locally on your device.
3.2 Images Selected by You
When you use the Images to PDF feature, you may select images from your device through the Android system photo or document picker.
Paperly may process selected images locally to create a PDF file. The App may temporarily decode images during processing and may store the generated PDF in the app-managed storage area.
Paperly does not upload selected images to our servers for PDF creation.
3.3 Device and App Information
We or our third-party service providers may collect basic device and app information, including:
device model
device manufacturer and brand
operating system version
app version
language and region settings
screen resolution or device configuration
network status
advertising identifier, where permitted by the system and applicable law
3.4 Usage Information
We may collect information about how you use the App, such as:
features opened
buttons or screens interacted with
tool usage events

We use this information to understand product performance, improve user experience, troubleshoot issues, and measure feature quality. We do not intentionally include the content of your PDF files or images in analytics events.

Paperly processes PDF files and images only when you choose to import, open, merge, split, export, share, or convert them through the App.
4.2 Information Collected Automatically
Some device, usage, diagnostic, analytics, and advertising information may be collected automatically when you use the App.
4.3 Information Collected Through Android System Pickers
Paperly uses Android system file and photo pickers to let you select PDFs and images. For imported PDFs, Paperly may retain read access granted by the Android system so the file can remain available in your Paperly file library.
You can manage or revoke file access through your device settings or by removing files from the App where supported.
4.4 Local Processing
PDF viewing, thumbnail generation, PDF merge, PDF split, and image-to-PDF creation are designed to be processed locally on your device. Generated files may be stored in the App's private storage area unless you choose to export or share them.
5. How We Use Information
We may use information for the following purposes:
to provide PDF viewing and file library features
to import and display user-selected PDF files

9. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
9.1 Local Data
PDF records, generated PDFs, thumbnails, recent tool records, and app settings stored locally on your device may remain there until you delete them, clear App data, or uninstall the App.
Imported external PDFs may remain in their original location outside Paperly. Removing an imported file from Paperly generally removes the App's library record and does not delete the original external file unless Android system behavior or a specific user action states otherwise.
9.2 Provider Data
Analytics, diagnostic, and advertising-related information transmitted to us or to our service providers may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for service operation, analytics, troubleshooting, security, compliance, fraud prevention, advertising measurement, or legal obligations.
10. Data Security
We take reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
These measures may include:
app-private storage for generated files where applicable
Android system permission controls
encrypted transmission where applicable
access controls
security monitoring and maintenance practices
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

Granting permissions or file access is generally optional, but denying or revoking certain access may affect the availability or functionality of some App features.
15. Advertising
The App may display ads provided by third-party advertising partners.
Advertising partners may use identifiers and related technical information to:
