Papa Louie has left the pizzeria for a few days and needs your help. You are playing as Roy, Papa Louie’s nephew. It is up to you, Roy, to take control of the pizzeria and keep things running smoothly. This means that you must take customers’ orders, assemble the pizzas, and bake them to perfection.

To begin the game, players simply have to click on one of the ‘save slot’ cards. After this, your pizza adventure will officially begin.

Take the customer's order... Toppings, how long it's to be cooked, how to cut it... Make the pizza... Give it to the customer. If it's done correctly, you get a big tip! Each customer will have slight variations on their orders. They might want their pizza cooked for a specific amount of time. Other small details include different amounts of toppings, a different amount of slices, a different amount of . . . well, you get it. The key is to get these details exactly right in order to satisfy the customers.

The real challenge begins when there is more than one customer to deal with at once! You will have to figure out how to prioritize customers and optimize your orders to keep everyone happy. It sounds easier than it is, as orders can get quite overwhelming.

Make sure to pay attention to the little things as well. Often it can get hard to remember every single thing that the customer wants. Make sure to not only pay attention to what toppings the customers want, but where the toppings go on the pizza, how long the pizza should be cooked, and how they want the pizza cut. If you miss these details, you can seriously miss out on some big tips. If you do all of this quickly, then you should be able to do well in this game.
" } } , { "@type":"Question
What if I get overwhelmed with orders?
@type":"Answer
Our recommendation is to just take a deep breath and not try and rush it too much. So, I recently played (and reviewed) the original version of Papa's Burgeria, which was fun little game that was pretty reminiscent of old flash games that I played as a kid, it wasn't mind-blowing or anything, but was a solid "virtual career" game. As it seems most of the Papa's franchise uses flash, many of these don't seem to have browser support anymore, but Papa's Pizzeria is somehow still playable despite it originally being released back in 2007. The game has gone on to get not one, but two different upgraded versions for mobile since its original release, these being Papa's Pizzeria To Go! and Papa's Pizzeria HD; both of which being paid games. I didn't really want to pay money for something like this, and the original can be played for free in any web browser, so I played and reviewed the original 2007 version. As far as I can tell, both of the updated versions just modernized the game by adding some additional features, a female character, and some better graphics; basically, making it more like the modern Papa's games; it should still be the same core gameplay though. I am also pretty sure this is the first game like this that Flipline Studios developed.

Gameplay

As with Papa's Burgeria, there isn't much of a story here, the manager skips town to do cocaine benders and cheat on his wife, so you're left to run the pizza place on your own. Instead of yelling "workers rights!" and trying to unionize, you're stuck in the post-capitalist hellhole of having to operate an entire pizza place on your own, for all operation hours, and only taking home the tips people leave (yeah, this guy isn't even on a payroll). Running the pizza place involves taking orders, preparing the pizzas (aka, putting the toppings on them), cooking them, and cutting them. Compared to the other game I played, the customers in this order quite quickly, which makes the ordering process a lot easier to manage. When topping the pizzas you do have to manually click and pull each individual topping on, but it goes quickly as people don't order an absurd amount of toppings (the pizzas actually look quite bare). Baking the pizzas can initially seem a bit complicated as there are many different times that these can cook for, and customers will make requests for varying cooking times right off the bat. Cutting the pizzas is simple, you just drag your mouse and it uses a line tool, so just click on one side of the pizza, slide your mouse, a dotted line appears, then click at the opposite end. Customers will request a varying amount of slices, so its good to pay attention to what they want. Then when you present them their pizza, they recreate the opening of the Ark in Indiana Jones; albeit, with a lot less face melting.

Now, all of that doesn't sound problematic, and there's nothing inherently wrong with it; its simple and effective, but in despite of that, its also somehow lacking the fun and feverishness of Papa's Burgeria, I can definitely tell that I'm playing an earlier, and less polished, title. For starters, you can't get as strategic in this game. You can't really start and continue constructing a pizza like you can in Burgeria, sometimes they reappear, sometimes they got lost in the void. This is more due to the food being pizzas and not burgers, but you can't see a customer come in and quickly throw stuff on, then take their order while it cooks; yes, each customer has their own specific order that they get each time, but it takes a lot longer to put everything on the pizza than just throwing some burgers on the grill, so you really need to take the order, then start the pizza making process; being able to bounce between all of the tasks was a lot of fun in Burgeria, but Pizzeria really forces you into a linear and formulaic way of playing. That said, cooking the pizzas does provide some micromanagement, as they all cook for different times. Additionally, unlike in Burgeria where you can pull burgers off the grill and have them stored for later use, you can't do that here. You can only have one single pizza out at a time, so you have to be mindful of when you put pizzas in and try to be as quick as you can with cutting if others have to come off soon.

Graphics, Sound, and Music

There honestly wasn't a whole lot to say about the sound in this game, I'm pretty sure it was all the exact same music as Burgeria. Honestly, if this music is from 2007, then that makes a lot more sense on why it sounds like an old edutainment game. Basically, this game has a few very short simplistic loops, each only being a few seconds long. That sounds like it might get annoying, but the music actually works really well as background noise and doesn't become distracting, my mind barely even processed it being there. All of the music in this game sounds really old and low budget, with some really trash, but nostalgic sounding, MIDI soundfonts. As for the graphics, they're effective but not the greatest. Everything very much looks like an old flash game, which this is, so its hard to really knock it points for its graphics; but the people are still incredibly freakish looking, and I dislike that the original version has only one character to pick from (as far as I can tell, the HD version has an optional female character). Additionally, the pizza place stays very simple looking as in the 2007 original version you can't upgrade the establishment, the tips are basically just points, but I believe they have fixed in this in the upgraded mobile ports. I don't actually really mind the look of the pizzeria though, its a lot more visually appealing than the burger joint you run in the other game, and I liked the heavy use of green and the game having a consistent color palette.

Overall

Overall, I can very much tell that I'm playing an early game from a developer. The ideas are there, but it lacks in execution. The game feels too simple, and its annoying that you can't strategize more and can have only one pizza out of the oven at a time. The game isn't terrible, its just very mediocre, its playable, and I can see how someone may like it, but the Burgeria one is just so much better, this game got boring to me pretty fast and just wasn't very captivating.
