Preston A. Peterson Artistry

Everyone is an artist. My belief is that we are all creative beings, and the effort to express ourselves formally, emotionally, and aesthetically are many facets that prove this truth. Art is essential to learning, which is referenced thoroughly within a Thesis I wrote in 2018.

Value of Arts in the Classroom - Thesis

Throughout history civilizations have been defined by distinguishing patterns and expressions of the human experience. Understanding the evolution of Art History can better give us context of knowing ourselves and the struggle to find our present identity.

My passion is art and the curiosity of how faith is intertwined within our various lenses from which we see and experience relationships with one another. This is communication of the soul. A predominant theme in my paintings is the wrestling of spiritual, cosmic applications to our everyday life whether we are aware or have become ignorant of these forces around and within us.

My upbringing had been in the rural country landscapes of northwestern Wisconsin in small town of Rice Lake. I appreciated the simple life of living off the land and the hard work in sweat of the brow through field work and dairy farming. Upon graduating Rice Lake Senior High School being artistically inspired and gaining a vision to be a High School Art Teacher. I pursued a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, with a double major in Ceramics and Painting-Drawing, a minor in Art History In 2004.

After gaining some professional experience and pursuing spiritual dreams. I obtained my teaching licensure as an Art Specialist. While teaching in the Minneapolis Public School District, I finished a Masters of Instruction at St. Mary's University.

During the traditional school year, I have the blessing to teach at North Community High School as the Visual Arts Teacher. This was my third year teaching at North. Prior to that I taught an additional 3 years in the District at the former Metro St. Joe’s as an Art Teacher.

My joys and hobbies are... Family, Coffee, Art Museums, Antique shopping and Judeo-Christian theology.
