If you want for kids bluetooth audio with stable connectivity and all-day battery life, choose Panasonic True; if you need fully submersible over-ear gear for underwater metal detecting or rugged outdoor use, choose Killer B Headphones Thresher Waterproof Headphones. These two devices occupy entirely different worlds: one is a compact, wireless solution designed for the commute, the gym, and the classroom, while the other is a heavy-duty, wired instrument built to survive being submerged in water and connected to specialized detection equipment. There is no overlap in their intended environments, and confusing them would lead to immediate disappointment.
• Panasonic True: Offers up to 30 hours of total playback time with IPX4 sweat resistance, but requires an earbuds-in-ear fit that can be tricky for some users to seal correctly. Best for students and commuters who need reliable Bluetooth without wires.
• Killer B Headphones Thresher: Delivers a 100-foot depth rating and oversized speakers for rich tones in wet conditions, but relies on a wired 3.5mm connection and lacks wireless convenience. Best for serious metal detectors working in rivers, lakes, or underwater.
• The Verdict: You pick Panasonic True for daily life, study sessions, and active movement; you pick Killer B only when your activity involves water immersion or specific Minelab detector compatibility.
The Panasonic True Wireless Earbuds (model RZ-S300W) are engineered for people who prioritize freedom of movement and consistent performance in crowded spaces. The design team utilized extensive 3D ear data to create a compact form factor that feels lightweight on the head. This isn't just about looking small; it's about ensuring the device stays secure during vigorous activity. The inclusion of five different earpiece sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL) suggests a strong focus on getting a proper seal, which is critical for sound quality and call clarity. If you cannot get the tips to fit snugly, the manual explicitly warns that sound quality and call performance will suffer, so this product demands a bit of trial and error to find the perfect pair of tips for your anatomy.
Connectivity is where this model truly shines for the average user. Unlike many wireless headphones that struggle in dense urban environments or busy offices, these feature an independent left-right signaling system and a patent-pending antenna design. This architecture minimizes interference, meaning you won't experience drop-outs or unbalanced audio even when surrounded by thousands of other Bluetooth signals. For a student trying to listen to lectures in a crowded library or a professional taking calls in a bustling coffee shop, this reliability is non-negotiable. The dual touch sensor controls allow you to manage volume, track selection, and voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant without ever reaching for your phone.

Battery life is another major selling point for the everyday user. You get approximately 7.5 hours of continuous playback from the buds themselves, plus an additional 22.5 hours from the charging cradle, totaling 30 hours. This means you can go days without plugging in the case, making it ideal for long commutes or multi-day trips. A quick 15-minute charge provides 90 minutes of playback, which is a lifesaver when you forget to charge overnight. The IPX4 water resistance rating ensures they can handle sweat during workouts or unexpected rain splashes, though they are not designed for full submersion. This makes Panasonic True the clear choice for anyone seeking a versatile, "set it and forget it" audio companion for school, work, or light exercise.
The Killer B Headphones Thresher is not a general-purpose audio device; it is a specialized tool built for a very specific purpose: metal detecting in wet environments. Its primary claim to fame is its ability to be fully submersible, with a depth rating exceeding 100 feet. This level of waterproofing is far beyond what standard sports earbuds offer. If you plan on using your metal detector in a river, a lake, or diving underwater to search for artifacts, these are the only headphones that will function reliably in those conditions. They are designed to work seamlessly with Minelab Equinox, Manticore, X-Terra Pro, WM08, and WM09 modules, featuring high-quality connectors approved by Minelab to ensure signal integrity.
The construction focuses on durability and acoustic power rather than portability. These are over-ear headphones made with metal, plastic, and silicone components, housing oversized speaker elements designed to produce deep, rich tones. In a noisy outdoor environment or underwater where sound travels differently, these large drivers help detect subtle signals that smaller drivers might miss. The build is described as the best in the industry for underwater use, reflecting a rugged aesthetic that prioritizes function over fashion. While they come in black now instead of the previous yellow, the core engineering remains focused on surviving harsh conditions. The 2-year warranty underscores the manufacturer's confidence in their durability.
However, the trade-offs are significant for anyone expecting a casual listening experience. These headphones are wired via a 3.5mm jack, meaning you are tethered to your detector or audio source. There is no Bluetooth capability, no wireless freedom, and no battery life to worry about since they draw power directly from the connected device. They lack noise cancellation, relying instead on the physical seal of the over-ear design. This makes them unsuitable for running, commuting, or any scenario where cables are a hindrance. They are also not designed for "kids" in the traditional sense of a portable entertainment device; they are adult-grade equipment for hobbyists and professionals who need to operate in water. If your goal is to wear headphones while swimming or hunting for treasure underwater, this is the dedicated solution.
• Best for battery independence → Panasonic True: With a 30-hour total capacity and quick-charge capabilities, you never need to hunt for an outlet, whereas the Thresher draws power directly from your detector.
• Best for underwater use → Killer B Headphones Thresher: Rated for depths over 100 feet, it is the only option capable of surviving full submersion, while Panasonic is only splash-resistant.
• Best for crowded environments → Panasonic True: The independent signaling system and optimized antenna prevent dropouts in high-interference zones like cities or stadiums.
• Best for signal depth in water → Killer B Headphones Thresher: Oversized speaker elements provide the rich, low-frequency response needed to hear faint signals underwater.
• Best for portability and comfort → Panasonic True: The ultra-compact, lightweight in-ear design fits easily in a pocket and sits comfortably for hours, unlike the bulky over-ear Threshers.
• Best for specific hardware integration → Killer B Headphones Thresher: Specifically engineered with Minelab-approved connectors for Equinox and Manticore detectors, ensuring compatibility that generic Bluetooth earbuds cannot match.
• Best for study and focus → Panasonic True: Touch controls and passive noise isolation make it easier to concentrate on tasks without cable tangles.
• Best for rugged outdoor terrain → Killer B Headphones Thresher: Built with metal and durable plastics to withstand the elements, though it is strictly for wired operation.
In my opinion, for most people asking about for kids bluetooth options or general daily use, the Panasonic True is the superior choice because it offers true wireless freedom, long battery life, and a compact design that fits into any lifestyle. It solves the common problems of tangled wires and dead batteries, making it perfect for students, commuters, and active individuals. However, if your life revolves around metal detecting in water, the Killer B Headphones Thresher is the only logical path, as its 100-foot depth rating and specialized connectors are unmatched features that simply do not exist in consumer wireless audio. I would buy the Panasonic True for my own daily routine, but I would recommend the Killer B exclusively to serious hobbyists who need to dive into rivers or lakes with their gear.
