Alcobaça International

When I moved to Alcobaça in 2015 I found it a little frustrating that I never found out about events until after they had happened!

Very little was publicised on Facebook at that time, posters in shop windows were still very much a thing. I took to taking photos of these posters when I saw them and also followed some pages of local organisations and businesses on Facebook as I could see that things were changing. I wanted to know everything about Alcobaça, this was my new home and I wanted to learn about it - the cultural events, the businesses, the social scene. I literally followed every page on Facebook with "Alcobaça" in the title (then unfollowed the ones from the Brazilian Alcobaça!). I decided to create a page myself as a place to put all this information and called it Alcobaça International as I though it might appeal primarily to the international community living here.

We now have a weekly meetup in the green park. This is a social meetup, open to all nationalities, everyone is welcome whether they live here or are visiting, it's a good place for people new to the area to meet people.
