Collaboration is essential to student success. Collaboration among educators and among constituents who work together to ensure student success is vital to a school being as productive as possible for student success. Reflecting on my career, my most impactful years in the classroom were those spent as part of a strong, collaborative team. Working together with colleagues allowed us to elevate each other, share insights, and ultimaltely do what was best for our students.
Our schools don't exist in isolation; they are at the heart of our communities. I firmly believe that the same spirit of partnership must guide the relationship between the school the surrounding area it serves. The SSC (school community council) is made of both educators and parents elected in the school area. This is such an important and necessary group as many discussions and decisions are made on this level that elevate student success. Also the group of parents who either have leadership positions in the PTA or are members of the PTA have an impact on student improvement through the programs they conduct throughout the year. It is not only necessary, but essential, that we work together as decisions are made-decisions that directly affect students, educators, and the communities we serve. I am committed to building strong partnerships that uplift both our schools and the communities they serve.
Because of the uncertainty of the district split, it will be critical for the newly elected school boards in November to begin work immediately to reassure our community, address uncertainties, and ensure that schools are staffed appropriately to meet the needs of our new district.
Fiscal responsiblity begins with allocating funds where they have the greatest impact-on student achievement and educator support. To ensure transparency, we must clearly commumnocate budget prioritities and publish financial information in a format that is accessible and easy to understand. Accountability is key: those managing the budget must be held responsible for appropiate spending and regular oversight to build trust with all stakeholders. Transparency and stewardship must go hand in hand.
When we invest in both students and teachers, we create an environment where success becomes possible for everyone.
