Remember the Fun in ‘71
PVHS Class of 1971 50th+1 High School Reunion
Saturday, April 9th 2022
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Tucson - Reid Park
455 S. Alvernon Way, Tucson, AZ
It is hard to believe that it has been 50 years since that Thursday evening, June 10, 1971 when all 558 of us graduated from PVHS.
Now...wouldn't you be interested in seeing and knowing what all of your fellow classmates have been up to over the past 50 years?? We have all aged. So don't let your wrinkles/sagging skin, balding/grey hair, or uncomfortable weight gain keep you from making an appearance. Please attend this special event and share your 50+ years of gained wisdom, knowledge, life experience and stories with friends and classmates. Smile and laugh away the evening while you reminisce about your teenage years in 1971, and share memories. We have found almost 200 of our classmates and are planning a fun time to catch up and reunite with old friends and make new acquaintances. Don Warren has created a website where you can begin to reconnect: This site has a list of all the classmates we have found:
https://sites.google.com/view/paloverde-hs-1971-50th/home
Here are the specifics: All the fun will take place at the DoubleTree - Reid Park, a really beautiful, versatile, and central location. It has both indoor and outdoor space and plenty of room to socially distance.
Saturday April 9th:
4:30-6:30PM - registration and a meet and greet (cash bar)
6:30 -8PM dinner
8-10:45 PM- plenty of time to catch up on 50 years of friendship and acquaintances with friends old and new. (cash bar)
Dinner is $50 a person. Please register ASAP. Ticket prices may go up after the first 150 tickets are sold.
March 20 is the final date to register and get your check in.
The DoubleTree has a block of rooms reserved for the reunion at the very reasonable rates of $149. When you call for a reservation, indicate you are with the PVHS 50th year reunion group. Be sure to make your reservations NO LATER THAN March 20, 2022. During the day on Saturday, you can relax in the Arizona sunshine or meet with groups of old PVHS buddies on your own.
What you need to do
1. Reply yes, no or maybe to this email so we know you received and read it. It helps us to plan.
2. Print the linked file and send in your registration and check, ASAP.
3. Complete your updated bio and email it.
We are also putting together a yearbook. This will be a written update on what we all have been up to for the past 50 years. Even if you are unable to attend the reunion, send us your update and contact info so everyone can know what you have done over the past 50 years. If you would like to see some examples of these 50 year updates, the reunion committee has posted their contributions on the web site. This book will be included as part of the price for anyone who comes to the reunion. If you are unable to attend the reunion, you can purchase one of these books for $20 and it will be mailed to you.
For your contribution to the yearbook, please be as creative as you like and write a paragraph or two about what has happened in your life over the past 50 years and what you plan for the next. If you have writer’s block, or just can’t remember what has happened in your life, perhaps some of these questions would help get the writing rolling:
1) Are you retired and cruising around the country in your RV?
2) Have you started a second, third or fourth career, and how is that going?
3) What do you know now that you wish you had known back in 1971?
4) Do you credit any of your teachers at Palo Verde with having a strong impact on life or career choices you made?
We would like to have your contributions to the yearbook back by March 20 so the yearbook can be assembled in time for the Reunion.
It should be a wonderful weekend. Come and join us; it only happens every 10 years. We are looking forward to seeing you all there.
Your 50 year Reunion Committee:

Please return the linked file along with your check by March 20, at the latest -- and sooner is better!
We are working hard to plan a really fun event.

We are planning to celebrate our 50 year PVHS Reunion in April 2022
This is an open meeting and anyone who would like to attend and assist in planning the 50 year reunion is welcome
The Venue task force reported: (Ray, Patrick and Peggy)
They have been hard at work and narrowed the list down to 5. After discussion the committee decided that the Double Tree at Reid Park was the best. The date will be Saturday April 9. This is before Easter and earlier in the month to hopefully be less hot.
Thank you to the Venue team for all of their hard work.
Contacting people:
Most group members emailed Sandy with a list of 10 people they would try and contact after the last reunion. The goal of this outreach is to get them to register on the PVHS 50 year reunion website built by Don Warren. She will keep a master list so people are not contacted by multiple people.
We are having mixed results with this outreach, but now that we have a date, we hope to be able to step up the pace.
Sandy has reached out to Don to see if we can list the names only, not emails of any people who have been register so far.
Outreach with Date: of the 316 names we have in the 40 year book, 193 are address only.
Serena will create a Save the Date postcard and we will send it out for Committee Review. Serena is also able to run address labels for the postcards. The cost, including postage, will be about $1 per postcard. Any person who we do not have an email for will receive a postcard.
Dennie volunteered to take the lead on the post card task force. This will begin in Nov after the date and venue are decided on.
We would like to get these postcards in the mail before mid Nov so they do not get lost in Christmas mail.
Scott Stirling will to be liaison on Classmates.com. Sandy will follow up with Scott about getting this date and place on Classmates.
2. Sue spoke with Don and she has the job of adding names from registration to master list.
3. Name tags and pictures of deceased Titans. Serena Hogan (Jean DeGagne) had been in charge of this in the past. Sandy confirmed Serena is willing to do this again this year.
4. 50 year yearbook: Susan Kettlewell and Candy Acorn Schroder worked on putting together the 40 year reunion book and both have agreed to take on this task for the 50 year reunion.
5. Decorations: Sandy has lots or memorabilia which will need to be put on poster board for display closer to the event. This should be a minimal cost.
6. Donations: Sandy and Susan are working on these letter/emails.
We would like to have enough money to keep the cost of the meal less than $90. Maybe $71???
Gold donation: $200 or more - Goal 10 = $2000
Blue donation: of $199 -$25 – Goal 20 at $100 = $2000
7. Event Coordinator for the night of the event? It was agreed this would be helpful. We will discuss further at another meeting.
Since this event is only 6 months away, we will be meeting monthly at Sandy’s for now. Next meeting Monday, Nov 15. 5PM…
