Musicians Chairs

60x 78cm Acrylic on Breadboard  2018

It was one of the most charming and memorable things for me, about those spaces; during the quiet weeks, it was common enough to hear someone playing a clarinet, or a piano, or many other instruments echoing through the empty warehouses as you might mosey round, having a look at the various artwork that littered the place. I remember seeing these chairs fully musical, with all kinds of gypsy, traditional, folk and punk music coming out of them, on a random, grey Tuesday afternoon, with no audience and for no apparent reason. I suppose they were rehearsing. In the image of Spinobi fire preformers, these chairs would be just to the right, inside the opening in the warehouse wall.
