Belgrade Barracks

2.6 x 1.4 meters Oil on Canvas  2019

A friend and I were part of a project to build homemade woodstoves for Dunkirk refugee camp, and later he was working at the Barracks in Belgrade where he met Abdul Saboor. Abdul and I were put in touch and agreed to collaborate to share the story of the migrants. I began working on the first large painting in a damaged building on Pearse Street, and finished in a nearby abandoned warehouse. This was when I was launched by the Doorway Gallery and the painting was exhibited in Nutgrove Shopping Center. I would love to find somewhere that would display this image so that the story of the Barracks can be remembered.
