Landon grew up in the foster system all his life, and was bounced around from foster home to foster home. Some were decent, many were nightmarish. When he was about 13 years old, he was placed in the same foster home as Rafael Waithe, who quickly became his best friend and brother. They were inseparable. So much so that their foster parents (none other than Bonnie and Enzo) adopted both of them, to make sure they could never be separated. 

Landon had a hard time adjusting to a stable, loving home, but his new parents (and little sister, Shay) were patient with him. Especially Enzo, who seemed to understand far more about his situation than he let on.
