Funnily enough on my FreeBSD desktop there is a libpagemaker installed as dependency for LibreOffice and Scribus (an open source DTP program). I remember it being installed and it raised a curious eyebrow for me. So it seems that both of those programs would be worth trying. YMMV. I'm guessing they would be able to extract text as a minimum.

PAGE is a cross-platform drag-and-drop GUI generator, bearing aresemblance to Visual Basic. It allows one to easily create PythonGUI windows containing a selection of Tk and ttk widgets. Required isa current version version of Python.PAGE is actually written in Tcl/Tk 8.6 which is embedded in tkinter.PAGE springs from Virtual Tcl, forked to generate Python modules that realize the desired GUI. PAGE is not an end-all, be-all tool, but rather one that attemptsto ease the burden on the Python programmer. It is aimed at the userwho will put up with a less than completely general GUI capability inorder to get an easily generated GUI.
