FAQ

Can we invite friends?  Yes!  Rocket Derby is a great recruitment event! Please invite those you think may be interested in scouting.

I may need some help building the rocket?  We have several build resources linked below or please reach out to your den leader, Flight Director or Cubmaster and we'll make sure you get taken care of!  

Do I need to buy an engine?  No - you do not need to purchase anything. The Pack's Rocket Scientists (literally) will provide and install the engine, starter, plug, and recovery wadding.  All you need to bring is your completed rocket from the kit.

What order do we launch?  We launch in the order of check-in. After our scouts and siblings launch, we will have several launches of prepared rockets for those guests that are interested, and end with any adult provided rockets.

Can I bring my own rocket to launch?  Yes!  Adults - if you would like to launch your own rocket or any type please bring the completed rocket with corresponding engine and plugs.

Will there be food?  We will have jugs of water to refill water bottles and Ice Pops to cool off.

Are their chairs/bleachers? Nope. Bring your own chairs and shade.  We will have a few canopy's set up and usually others bring a few and line them up for broader coverage.

What about safety?  We set up a launch fence and require all participants to remain behind the launch fence at all times.  Only our Launch Technicians (adults) and Rocket Retrievers (Troop-level scouts) are allowed on the other side of the fence.

I didn't get a chance to build a rocket, can I still come?  Absolutely!  If you didn't get a chance to make a rocket please come anyway and let us know - we have a few extras.
