FAQ

What does the Pack do?

Pack 635 delivers the core values of scouting to boys ages 6 to 11 through activities focused on cooperation, personal achievement, physical fitness, and outdoorsmanship. You can look at our past Pack Adventures to get a taste of the year or look at the calendar to see what's ahead. The Pack leadership strives to give boys the best environment to try, and succeed in learning, new skills.

How do I sign my son up?

Pack 635 holds an "open house" session for sign-ups in the Fall and Spring of every year, but boys are encouraged to join at any time. You can contact the Pack via email at info@pack635.org or contact a Den Leader at your son's age level.

When I can I sign my son up?

You can sign your son up at anytime during the year. Pack 635 is active during both the typical school year and during the summer months. We hold an "open house" session in the Fall and Spring of every year, but please don't wait until those times to get your son involved!

Who are the leaders and how are they trained?

All our leaders are volunteers and do not receive money or any other compensation for their work. You can see our current leadership and the positions they hold by clicking here.

All leaders go through Youth Protection Training either via a virtual classroom or in person. Leaders also take position specific courses to help them create a program that supports our boys. Every scout deserves a well trained leader.

Do we need our own camping or other outdoor equipment?

No! If you have camping gear or other outdoor equipment that is wonderful, but don't let a lack of gear, or experience for that matter, keep you and your son from scouting. Pack 635 maintains a small supply of tents and other gear that scouts may borrow to participate fully in Pack outdoor activities.

How much does it cost?

Annual dues per scout are $79, but there is an early bird discount of $10 for anyone that pays before our October Pack Meeting. There may also be fees for additional activities scheduled by the Pack like the Green Mountain Council Haunted Harvest Festival or a trip to Battleship Cove.

If you need help to cover the costs of dues or activities, Pack 635 can help. We do not want any boy kept from experiencing scouting because of money. The Pack maintains the Fraiser Fund, named for a former Cubmaster, to assist families to pay for scouting. Please email the Cubmaster at cubmaster@pack635.org if you have any questions.

What is the Fraiser Fund?

You may have heard the Cubmaster or a Den Leader refer to the Fraiser Fund. This is a scholarship fund created in honor of Scott Fraiser a longtime former Cubmaster. He believed that every boy deserved to have a scouting experience and worked hard to make sure that financial hardships did not deter anyone from signing up for scouting. Fraiser Fund grants can be used for registration fees, activity fees, or summer camp fees. If you are interested in applying for a grant, please contact the Cubmaster at cubmaster.pack635@gmail.com.

What does the pack spend annually?

Pack 635 spends about $115 annually per scout. This includes national registration with the BSA, an insurance premium, handbooks, neckerchief & slide, and badges or other awards.
