About Cub Scout Pack 635
Active Youth, Countless Adventures, Dedicated Volunteers
Pack 635 is chartered by the Lions Club of Essex Junction and is an active group of boys and girls in grades K-5 that participate in a year-round program. The Dens are single gender, but they all come together for Pack activities. During the school year the Pack has monthly meetings while each Den meets weekly to complete adventures as they work towards advancing to the next rank. Most Pack and Den meetings are held on Tuesday evenings at the Essex Town schools. Additional special events are sprinkled in throughout both the school year and the summer. And all of this is made possible by a dedicated group of parent volunteers.
Cub Scouts in Pack 635 enjoy hands-on activities that focus on cooperation, character development, confidence building and service to others.
Many adventures get the Scouts outdoors. Hikes and camp-outs are popular throughout the year. One of the annual favorites is the fall bonfire where the Scouts demonstrate their creativity with a variety of songs and skits.
STEM activities are a regular part of adventures, whether Scouts are launching model rockets, building aerodynamic pinewood derby cars, or earning NOVA Awards, a program designed by the Boy Scouts of America to spark interest in STEM-related fields.
Pack 635 Scouts also experience special guests such as 802 Reptiles, unique outings like an overnight at MetroRock and just plain fun at picnics and movie nights.
The leaders of Cub Scout Pack 635 in Essex are volunteers and are committed to providing a safe, rewarding and fun experience for all the Cubs in the pack. Many hands makes light work so additional volunteers are always welcome to provide richer programming for the boys and girls. All leaders take Youth Protection Training and also complete a training program specific to their positions. You can view more information about leader training here. During the school year, Pack Meetings are held once a month on Tuesday evenings in Essex. Den meetings are held weekly on a day that works best for the Scouts in the den, often on Tuesday nights as well. The meeting frequency of the youngest Dens is adjusted based on the needs of the children. In addition, special events are often scheduled on weekends throughout the year. Attendance is not required, although the Scouts are often eager to join.
Cub Scout meetings have activities that are designed for Scouts and parents to do together. We also appreciate additional time and talents that parents can offer to the Pack. Time spent varies greatly from family to family and we welcome any support, no matter how small or large! It is all significant and helps form lasting experiences for the boys and girls in the Pack.
