Archery & BB Shoot Day

Through experiential learning guided by a knowledgeable adult, Cub Scouts will learn the safe and responsible use of BB guns, and archery equipment. The goal is for the Cub Scout to have fun in a safe environment, not to become an expert marksman, range master, or hunter. Shooting sports events can only be run by Council, not a den or pack. Luckily for us, several adults in our group were recently certified as Range Officers and Council will facilitate a shooting event for us.

Scouting for Food / Movie Night

Our favorite service project returns again this year. Last year we experienced the glitz and glamour of being at a movie premiere. This year, we’re going to make a movie (short) and our Cub Scouts will be the stars! The short film will be shot and edited on-site and then shown prior to our feature film.

Last year we collected more than 1500 foodstuffs for The Food Bank of South Jersey. Can we reach 3000 this year?

Snow Tubing

Located in the beautiful Poconos, Camelback Mountain is home to the Biggest Snowtubing Park in the USA! With up to 42 snow tubing lanes, you're bound for a memorable and exciting experience. The mountain offers single and double tubes to fit your adventure. Choose a single tube to race your friends and family or share the experience on a double tube for two times the fun! The snowtubing mountain also boasts two Magic Carpet Lifts for a speedy flight up the mountain.

(Cubmaster's note: Location may change.)

Pinewood Derby

The pinewood derby is one of the most popular and successful family activities in Cub Scouting. Pinewood derby cars are small wooden models that Cub Scouts make with help from their families. Then they race the cars in competition. The cars are powered by gravity and run down a track. Every boy can design and build his own "grand prix" car to enter in the race.

Diggerland

Diggerland USA is the only construction themed adventure park in North America where children and families can drive, ride and operate ACTUAL machinery. The park, which covers about 14 acres in West Berlin, NJ, is comprised of over 25 attractions. Guests who visit Diggerland can drive full size backhoes, dig giant holes with real excavators, and operate just about every sort of construction machine you might imagine. Each machine has undergone advanced engineering modifications which make them safe for the public, allowing children as small as 36″ to operate with little to no instruction.

Pool Party & Advancement Ceremony

This year’s Rank Advancement Ceremony will start with a pool party. Relax by the pool, splash around, and pick a side for our first ever Blue Vs. Gold Water Volleyball Game! Swim certification tests will be given all morning to anyone (Scouts, adults, and youths) wishing to participate in water, swim, or boating activities with Scouts.

Afterwards, join us as our Cub Scouts "rank up" for the year and reflect on how they've grown. It's here that we'll say good-bye (for now) to our Arrow of Light recipients as they cross the bridge into Boy Scouts. (Bring tissues, Mom & Dad!)

"Low Country" Crab Boil

In the summer of 2018 we’re going crabbing! Catch crabs right from the dock or on the bay from your 17’ skiff (flat boat). Afterwards, we’ll take our haul to a picnic area and have an old-fashioned Low Country Crab Boil. Lemonade, corn, andouille sausages, potatoes and blue crabs have never tasted so good!
