1. Information stored on your device
Pack Flow does not require an account. Your gear library, packs, Activity and Place logs, notes, reusable packs, People names, Groups and memberships, optional person photos, profile, Field Atlas progress, preferences, and manually added map pins are stored on your device. We do not operate a Pack Flow server that receives this content.
You can delete individual items in the app or remove the app and its data from your device. Device backups, if enabled by you, are managed by Apple under its own policies.
You can export a complete Pack Flow backup, including photos and settings, to a location you choose in Files. Pack Flow does not automatically upload this backup. If you choose a cloud provider, that provider manages storage and transfer under its own policies. Before restoring a backup, Pack Flow keeps a recovery copy on your device.
2. Location, weather, and maps
Pack Flow requests location access only when you choose Current Location to fill in a trip’s local temperature. The app asks iOS for kilometre-level accuracy, but the location supplied by iOS may be precise, depending on your permission settings and the available location information. The app sends that location to Apple’s WeatherKit service to retrieve the day’s temperature range; it does not round the coordinate before sending it. Location updates stop when a usable location is received, the request is cancelled, or it times out. This weather lookup does not save your device’s location in a log. You can enter temperatures manually, disable Precise Location, or revoke location access in iOS Settings at any time.
Trip destinations and map pins you enter are saved locally. Map displays use Apple MapKit, which may process map requests under Apple’s own privacy policy.
3. Photos and sharing
Flow Duel is optional and connects two nearby players using an encrypted peer-to-peer connection. Only the Place Log entries you select for the five targets are available to the other player. The same Place Log may be selected for more than one location. A discovered log can include its photos, dates, locations, notes and With names; after the game, both players can view all five selected logs, including undiscovered ones. People-library portraits, unselected logs and linked Activity Logs are not shared. Shared records are kept temporarily for the game and are not imported into the other player’s library. No Pack Flow server receives the game content.
When a Flow Duel connection is established, your Profile information is shared with the connected player: your display name, theme, visited-country list and count, Place Log and Activity Log counts, and mountain and World Heritage completion counts. During play, shared map-view positions, searches and results are exchanged to synchronize the game. These map-view positions describe the game map, not your device’s live GPS location.
Auto Plan is optional. When you start a search, Pack Flow requests access to your photo library and reads dates and location metadata for the period you choose. If you grant limited access, only those accessible photos are included. Trip discovery runs on your device without uploading library photos to a Pack Flow server or identifying people. Auto Plan may analyze small photo previews on your device to suggest framing around prominent subjects; those images are not sent to Apple for this analysis.
To suggest a place name for an Auto Plan trip, Pack Flow sends a representative coordinate derived from photo location metadata to Apple’s geocoding service. Photo images and photo-library identifiers are not included in this request. Apple processes the request under its own privacy policy. You can change suggested place names in the record editor.
Possible trips, review decisions, edited drafts and photo references are stored locally so you can continue later. Rebuildable search checkpoints are cached on your device. You can remove unadded candidates from Auto Plan without deleting your original photos or saved Place Logs. Candidate review history and drafts are included in full Pack Flow backups. Photo references may no longer resolve after moving to a different photo library.
Nothing is added as a Place Log until you explicitly save it. Auto Plan may suggest up to four locally available photos in a draft. In Settings, you can replace suggested photos before saving. Onboarding offers a simplified save-or-dismiss review. Only the draft you confirm is attached to the Place Log. Candidate thumbnails are requested without downloading originals. When you confirm selected photos, Apple may retrieve them from iCloud. Saved attachments remain in your log even if you later delete the original from Photos. Revoking library access stops future library searches; it does not delete photos you already chose to save in Pack Flow.
Pack Flow imports photos you explicitly select through Apple’s photo picker. If you choose to take a photo, camera access is requested at that time. Selected and captured photos are kept in your local logs, person icons or share content and are not uploaded to a Pack Flow server.
When you share content, iOS sends the content shown in the share preview to the app or service you choose. This may include names, relationships, photos, notes, dates and locations. Person photo icons are initially hidden in Who and Place Log sharing; you can enable them in the preview. That recipient’s privacy policy then applies.
4. Advertising
The free version of Pack Flow displays advertising through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Pack Flow disables ad personalization, so ads are not selected from a user’s past app or web activity by Pack Flow.
Google may still process limited technical information, such as device information, IP address, ad interaction data, and identifiers needed for ad delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention, and reporting. This processing is governed by the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
Where required, Pack Flow shows Google’s consent flow before requesting ads. Eligible users can revisit their choice through Privacy Choices in Settings. Paid Plus and Pro plans do not display ads.
5. Purchases
Optional Plus and Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Pack Flow receives only the transaction status needed to unlock the purchased plan. Apple handles payment information and purchase records under its own privacy policy.
6. Third-party services
Apple StoreKit for in-app purchases.
Apple WeatherKit for optional local weather lookups.
Apple MapKit for map displays.
Google Mobile Ads and Google’s User Messaging Platform for free-tier advertising and privacy choices.
7. Data retention and deletion
Your Pack Flow content remains on your device until you delete it, reset relevant app data, or remove the app. We do not maintain a Pack Flow account database or cloud copy of your gear, packs, trip logs, notes, photos, or Field Atlas progress.
Advertising and purchase providers may retain data according to their own policies and legal obligations.
8. Children
Pack Flow is not directed to children under the minimum age required by applicable law.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Pack Flow’s features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The effective date above shows when it was last revised.
10. Contact
When you email us with a support or privacy enquiry, we receive your email address and the information you include. We use this correspondence to respond and handle related enquiries, retain it only as necessary for that purpose or legal obligations, and process it through our email provider. Avoid sending information that is not needed for your enquiry.
