GOAL 

Pacific Waves is a small conference focused on problems related to water waves.  Foci include Euler and Navier-Stokes equations, reduced models, experimental measurements, etc.  The conference is organized by Levent Batakci (University of Washington), John Carter (Seattle University) and Bernard Deconinck (University of Washington).  It is meant to bring together around 36 scientists to discuss these topics every year.

AIM

The investigation of water waves has been at the forefront of applied mathematics for over 200 years. Mathematicians working to model the wide range of phenomena observed in the field and in the laboratory have made significant advances in analysis, numerical analysis, partial differential equations, and dynamical systems. We aim to bring together junior and senior researchers contributing to all aspects of water waves: experiments, computation, and analysis. Current topics in water waves include the investigation of the inclusion of the effects of dissipation, surface tension, vorticity, and wind, but it is anticipated that the talks presented will bring in topics beyond these as well. 

LOGISTICS

• There is no registration fee.

• Conference talks are by invitation only.

• There is no remote participation option. 

• Participants are responsible for their own travel and lodging.

• Participants are responsible for their own meals. Snacks and drinks will be available during the breaks. 

• With speaker consent, talks will be recorded and posted on a youtube channel.
