PAREDES

space, time, matter and energy

Architectural practice based in Madrid. Our work focuses on the relative synergies between space, time, matter and energy in architecture and society, developing processes of interpretation, adaptation and transformation of local traditions and types, translating them to present and future techniques, behaviours and contexts. Our practice has been awarded and exhibited at the La Biennale di Venezia, COAM Madrid, BEAU XIII Spanish Architecture Biennale, or ARQUIA Proxima. Our work has been featured in national and international specialized journals such as ArquitecturaViva , DOMUS, or AiT; in general media in EL PAIS or NEO2 Magazine; in digital platforms including DIVISARE, designboom, ArchDaily, or METALOCUS; and architectural archives such as HIC Arquitectura, or buildingsomethingoffbeat.

STUDIO

STUDIO PACHÓN—PAREDES is an architectural practice based in Madrid, founded in 2020 by Luis G. Pachón and Inés Garcia de Paredes. Their work focuses on the relative synergies between space, time, matter and energy in architecture and society, developing processes of interpretation, adaptation and transformation of local traditions and types, translating them to present and future techniques, behaviors and contexts. Currently, they combine their professional practice with an active continuous research on new ways to build and inhabit “undefined habitats” by the means of what they call NON–BINARY SPACES.

Since 2015, they have actively worked with international offices such as estudioHerreros, Paredes Pedrosa or Tuñon Arquitectos. They combine practice with academics at Università IUAV di Venezia Wa.Ve,  teaching graduate and undergraduate studios & workshops; Canadian Carleton University-ETSAM bilateral winter workshops. They have lectured in different institutions, at ETSAM Polytechnic University of Madrid, IUAV di Venezia and Escola da Cidade in Sao Paolo. Their work has been awarded and exhibited at the 16th and 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, COAM Madrid, BEAU XIII Spanish Architecture-Urbanism Biennale, Iberoamerican Historical and Cultural Patrimony PHI; EME3 collapse international architecture festival, ETSAM; Arquia Próxima 2022. His projects, writings and collaborations have been published in several magazines, books and platforms such as Arquitectura Viva, Divisare, HIC, Metalocus, COAM Architecture magazine, NEO2 Magazine, Displacements Journal and various national & international digital platforms.

Recently, they have been selected among the most emerging practices in Spain in “Ecosistemas.zip” exhibition, gathered at Arquitectura Viva monographic issue nº244.

CREW

We love the concept of CREW: a group of specific people who work and operate closely together.

Although we have a practice core, it is a latent situation. We believe in adaptable and flexible team systems. We blend-together specific technical/creative combinations of people depending on each specific client, context or typology.
