Over the weekend we issued a survey asking for feedback on both our P3 Cube Series tournament and livestreams. We surpassed our goal of over 10 responses and received great feedback (both positive and constructive) and have been working on putting that feedback into action. While not every change we intend to make will be implemented right away, just know that we took careful consideration on all input given. Below you will see the immediate changes we are making as well some future plans we intend to get to. Once again thank you to all the responses and we look forward to brining you even better cube experiences in the future.
While the majority of people were content with the current starting time, 89% of people who took the survey said they would play at this time. We thought moving the tournament back to 12PM CDT would allow us more flexibility in the schedule, potentially allow more players to get involved, and make the tournament series times more consistent with the other cube discord events. Hopefully this will allow more players to participate in the event and allow the event to wrap up at a decent hour since we understand this is the end of the weekend for most.
After watching many hard fought finals falling flat to dead draws, or just resistance in general, we wanted to add an opportunity for the best decks to truly shine. Best of 1 in cube can also be not as much fun for those who want a more competitive experience. For these reasons, we decided to add a top cut to any P3 series with 12+ participants. Top Cut games will be played in a best of three style. An updated schedule can be found on the Tournament Info page.
In order to provide a more stable and consistent playing experience, we are adding 50 minute round timers for each round in phase 1. This means each round will be timed for a set amount and once that amount is reached, the round will end. At this point the game will conclude after the player who is currently playing out their turn is finished. The winner is determined by who has the least amount of prize cards remaining. If players are currently tied on prize count then gameplay will continue until the next prize is taken.
In Top Cut, except for finals, round timers will be set to 120 minutes + 3 turns. Meaning Turn 0 will begin on the player who is currently taking their turn when time is called. The P3 series will follow TCPi Top Cut guidelines for all tournament procedures as it relates to time.
The P3 series is adding more prizes to the prize pool! While we are changing pay outs to exclusively top 4 for each participant threshold, we are also going to be offering consolation packs to those unfortunate souls who might bubble out of top cut. Double prize weekends and even special online rewards might even show up every now and then so be on the look out. For an updated prizing list, please refer to "Prizing" on the Tournament Info page
While this change is more nebulous, we are going to be working very hard to fix to issues that were highlighted in the feedback we received from the survey. Our #1 priority will be fixing the audio balancing issues as that seemed to come up many of the surveys. We also have many exciting things plans that we cannot report on yet, but a few include more intermission content, tournament recaps, winner interviews, and much more to come!
We will also be recording drafts from each P3 Cube Series exclusively for YouTube, while still live streaming the game play on Twitch. We feel this will uphold the competitive integrity of the tournament better and allow tournament staff to handle any issues during the draft much quicker. Truth be told this change has been in effect for a while but, now is more formally stated. :peoplestar:
Lastly we cannot forget to mention the new cube series website, the one you are on right now! We hope to house as much information about the event that we can and use this as a vehicle of communication for updates such as this one as well as other useful info. We will be updating this site with current P3 cube series tournament info, as well as recaps of previous series. Make sure to check in with us from time to time to see what is new and hope this site adds much value to the P3 Cube Series experience!
