Racing Classes

For those new to 1/28 scale racing, or even those with a moderate amount of R/C car experience, the recommended class starting out is LEMO Stock. This video will be helpful as in introduction to chassis/motor selection. In general new racers should be starting off in LEMO Stock or at most 2500Kv classes. The Super Stock 3500Kv and Modified classes are more for those with some level of R/C car experenice

Starting April 2024, we will be trying a more open generalized class structure shown below with the following groups. If you have any 1/28 scale car, please come out and we'll sort you into the most appropriate class.

2500kv LiPo

2WD only, any chassis (Kyosho, PN, GL, Atomic, Reflex, etc.)
2500kV Surpass Rocket or NHX RC sensorless motor with factory rotor only, no motor modifications allowed
2S lithium battery (LiPo, lithium-ion, etc.) 8.4V max
13/53 gearing
Max 25mm mounted rear tire diameter
open electronics (suggested GL v1.2 sensorless ESC)
blinky mode on ESC's that have it
Hard plastic bodies

Super Stock 3500KV (expert)

2WD only, any chassis (Kyosho, PN, GL, Atomic, Reflex, etc.)
3500kV motor with factory rotor, max 3800kv measured on a motor check
2S lithium battery (LiPo, lithium-ion, etc.) 8.4V max
open gearing (suggested 12-14T pinion)
open electronics
blinky mode on ESC's that have it
Lexan or hard plastic bodies, no pan or LMP bodies

Modified (expert)

2WD or 4WD, any chassis (Kyosho, PN, GL, Atomic, Reflex etc.)
open motor, open electronics, open batteries
Lexan or hard plastic body

LEMO Stock

Kyosho MR-03RWD, MR-03 Sports/2, or MR-03 with ASF board
NiMH batteries (any brand)
Motor: Kyosho stock motor. Max 9T pinion
Autoscale, Jomurema, or TRP hard bodies. Allowed: aftermarket/custom rear wings and Lexan windshield/roof
Allowed upgrades/modifications:
- Kingpin flip
- Disk damper: PN MR2060, MR2061, or MR2063 in any color
- Any T-plate (recommend PN #3 black carbon MR3001 or #4 black carbon MR3002)
- Any front springs (recommend PN MR3010S)
- PN Racing Mini-Z Pro Match Delrin Pinion 9T (400329)
- Rear tires: Marka MZR-V1R10 only, any rear wheels, mounted tires max 25mm diameter. Any front tires, front wheels, non-ceramic bearings, wheel nuts.
- Motor wire replacement, remove motor caps and thermal fuse
- Any compatible transmitter (for ex. any ASF transmitter or compatible transmitter with ASF module, Noble NB4, Futaba 4PM Plus)
- The following are also allowed but are mainly for improved durability rather than performance:
  - Metal 4th servo gear (PN MR3056B or Kyosho MZW417)
  - PN Racing Mini-Z MR03 Adjustable Axle Low Down Knuckle (Orange, Blue, or Black) MR3046
  - Any aluminum tie rod
  - PN Racing Mini-Z V2 Alum Interchangeable Front Body Mount Base (Orange, Blue, or Black) BM1001
  - Matching PN carbon fiber body adapter
  - other minor non-performance upgrades may be allowed on a case by case basis, see race director (for example wheel nuts, different (non-titanium or brass) screws, etc.). NO comm drops allowed.
